I have a rebuilt five speed out of my 2.5l YJ. I would take $550 for it.

thanks for the replies and once again the old forum system for remedies and fixes has proved itself and steered me to the solution.

Funny thing is that I have another neutral safety switch I could throw in there, but I kind of like being the only one who knows how to start my jeep.

|Jerry Bransford||Jack, why don't we just get together and swap transmissions? My 5-speed doesn't have that pesky neutral interlock switch and I'd be quite happy to take your troublesome automatic in a straight trade.|

|1BLKJP||Yeah, I have the same thing with mine at times. I just look at it as an anti-theft deterrant. I just pop it down into neutral and it starts right up. It's called a neutral safety switch and it's on your transmission.|

safety interlock neutral start switch going bad
has anyone experienced problems with the switch that controls starting the engine in gear? im not sure what the switch is called or where it is located so im guessing that its in the column. my 97 jeep wont start at times and i can hear the switch clicking, so im thinking that its the switch not working like it should? to get it to start i have to continue to move the shift into park and neutral and out of park and neutral and keep flipping the ignition switch until it finally works. im sure that its going to totally go out sooner or later so i need to change it but i would like some info as to where it may be and how to get to it and so on.
any info is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance
