0III0forlife Nothing is going to stop rust completely. If you live in a northern state and they salt the roads during winter, you are going to have rust. That's just a fact of winter driving.

The people that bitch and complain about POR15 don't know how to use it properly. It isn't a "rust preventer". And for it to be effective, it needs a top coat of something else to protect it. The worst problem with it is preparation. The frame needs to be clean and oil free as well as completely dry. Any moisture at all will get trapped inside and start rusting all over again.

I use Dupli-color truck bed liner in a spray can on mine. But it needs dealt with every spring and sometimes a few times a year. Grind out the rust spots and spray in new bed liner each time.

Once you finish your cleaning, prepping, and applying a protective paint coating you could shoot the undercarriage with something like Fluid Film. It would just have to be checked once or twice a year and touched up. IMO the more permanent coatings are very good, however people tend to think once applied nothing else has to be done and don't check it. As a result rust sets in.

I used Amsoil HD metal Protectant and re-coat where needed once a year. According to the tech people at Eastwood, their HD Anti-Rust will work well even on the undercarriage and exposed areas as long as you check and re-coat as needed. It is also self healing which is good.

The very thick high film build products can crater and trap water and rust under the coating. Usually once you notice that happening it is too late.

yeah it was bad he's putting new metal in and should be up and going this spring the jeep looks like its been through the crusher though he hit a telephone pole with it and had to have the frame straightened out but his fender and hood still looks like an accordion but the same thing with his frame looked good but that plate and bolts sure wasnt

Klimarov yep just checked eastwood, their inside frame spray is good. however not sure if their stuff can do the outside just as good, but will have to give it a try. so far other staff i've read about, either washes off quickly or starts chipping.

Klimarov hmm, haven't found a single worthy review for Rustolem inhibitor nor por 15. for rustolem people say it never dries and goes away within few weeks, as for por 15, it starts chipping very quick and goes away.

any other idea on rust preventive sprays, please? any help will be good.

Klimarov i'll have to research por 15 and rustolem, see which one is better. I will probably clean frame from chipping pieces, cover it with galvanizing solution again, do either rustolem or por 15 and do doable coat of paint. this i guess will have it last longer.

luv2bmx22 I heard of people spraying rusted spots with a solution that turned the rust into a hard, paintable surface. I never used it myself and I'm not even sure what it's called. I would look it up if I were you.

i have jeep YJ 1992, 4.0, i love it however as every jeep it has rust issue on frame. I actually treated it once before this winter, however after riding few days in snow the jeep started to develop surface rust again.

So my actual question is: does any one know how can i treat rust in a more permanent way on my frame and undercarriage?
