After Katrina, there was a controversy as to whether the government could confiscate private citizens weapons during an emergency. It was ruled that they could NOT. Those who did so in New Orleans, etc......did so illegally.

If you think about it, when would it be a good time to have a weapon, than in an emergency?

sonofabeach Just more paranoia imo. There are much bigger issues than this.
It's gonna be every man for himself when the zombies attack.

Sounds like Pennsylvania.

Need to change one though.
Permint to carry a handgun concealed? Yes.
Permint to open carry a handgun? No.
Same in Kentucky. Indiana has one up on us though. I wish we had the lifetime permit option here. Then again, Kentucky's is a CCDW- makes carrying other things legal (Automatic knives, etc.)

Whenever you purchase you fill out a form and the store calls the NCIS to make sure you can legally own a firearm, but other than if it's a long rifle or handgun there is never any further mention of the firearm to NCIS. No serial number or anything; no registration other than they know you just bought something. Less than 2 minutes on the phone and "they" either give the dealer a "proceed" or "do not proceed" on the sale. Pay for the firearm if it's a "proceed" and walk out the store same day right there.

Must be 21 to buy a handgun.

Now if you're buying something that's full-auto that's a little different...but that's true anywhere.
The only three responses given by the operator at the FBI NCIS center are:

Proceed
Delayed
Denied

No other information is given or received.

N39-W120 And another thing that bothers me here is the 3rd admendment... "We couldn't find the pastor so we broke in to this church.."
No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.

adkjoe This country has a a lot of history, but I don’t see much of a future...

One of my favorite comedians Doug Stanhope makes a good point about where this country has gone. *edited for language*

They say if you give a man a fish, he’ll eat for a day, but if you teach a man to fish…. then he’s godda get a fishing licence, but he doesn’t have any money. So he’s got to get a job and get into the social security system and pay taxes, and now you’re gonna audit the poor guy, coz’ he’s not really good with math. So he’ll pull the IRS van up to your house, and he’ll take all your $hit. He’ll take your black velvet Elvis and your Batman toothbrush, and your wee wee pump, and that all goes up for auction with the burden of proof on you because you forgot to carry the one, coz’ you were just worried about eating a damn fish, and you couldn’t even cook the fish coz’ you needed a permit for an open flame. Then the health department is going to start asking you a lot of questions about where are you going to dump the scales and the guts. ‘This is not a sanitary environment’, and ladies and gentlemen if you get sick of it all at the end of the day… not even legal to kill yourself in this country. Thanks again John Ashcroft you weird bible addict, can’t even handle your own drug. You were born free, you got screwed out of half of it, and you wave a flag celebrating. The only true freedom you find, is when you realize and come to terms with the fact that you are completely and unapologetically screwed, and then you are free to float around the system

adkjoe theirs anti-gun politicians all over. They have no reason behind there logic other than that's what they think the people want to hear. If there is a lot of gun violence in your city do you really think more gun laws are going to stop criminals from using gun. Do criminals say "well it's illegal to carry a gun in Chicago so I guess I can't kill that bastid"? I'm beating a dead horse with this but criminals don't follow laws so laws only affect the helpless innocent law abiding citizens that became victims because they followed the law.

Vermont has the largest rate of gun ownership in the country, it's legal to carry a concealed weapon on your person in public without any permits licenses etc.. We have a whopping 1 murder a year and most of the time it has nothing to do with guns. People aren't shooting each other over parking spaces and spots in line. These anti gun stances have no logic to back them up they just make it harder for law abiding citizens to protect themselves. In most states you have to jump through hoops, fill out paperwork, get finger printed, have a good reason to carry a gun, pay a fee etc... it's all a bunch of bull$hit and this country was not founded on that crap. If guns are the problem then mine must be broken.

flashgordon to set the record straight.

there is an anti gun movement in progress. a Republican from New York wants to take 2nd amendment rights away from anyone deemed a 'threat to the state' which includes people of religion (yes christians), pro-lifers, anti-gun control, and many other groups. it was started before Obama was in office, but the obama administration has had an anti-gun stance (unofficially).

i'm not trying to make this political but i just thought i should share this info.
11-11-2010 10:36 AM
yomondo I can't stand California's gun laws. What part of "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" do they not get? Anyway, at least there's lots of great wheeling out here.

it's not breaking the law where I live, guns don't have to be registered here in VT. Private sales are legal etc... I have registered and unregistered guns (as in not registered to me) that I own. If you buy a gun brand new it gets registered to you but if you buy a gun from a private sale it could be reistered to anyone anywhere in the country, it's no problem.

And if anyone of you have read my posts on guns in the off topic forum you know how I feel, no one is taking anything of mine without one of us losing a life.

One World Government

It's been around since Rockefeller...Obama is just another test to see how close "they" are to total government control and if you think for one moment that our own sons and daughters in the military won't help "them" do it....well, you may be a part of the reason it will happen. GOD bless America.
