2002 jeep wrangler cruise control won't work

I have an 02 4.0 L and yesterday i flipped it into a marsh, and landed driver side down and got bout 6 to 7 inches of water on the inside. today i drove it to clean it out and my cruise control worked just fine, later when i dried everything out, cleaned and got it lookin good, i was driving home and the cruise control light wouldnt come on, if i tapped the brake it the light for it would come on but the cruise buttons wouldnt do anything, and then id have to tap the brake to turn off the light, any ideas?
