You may have to pay for the clutch disc and throw out bearing (parts only) but have them throw a new clutch before they put the transmission back in. Should'nt cost more than a couple hundred.
If your a combative person by nature tell the dealer you bought it from to pay for the clutch parts too or you're bringing it back for a full refund and they can buy a new transmission for it.

|i82much||You'll be fine. Your transmission will just be newer than the rest of the vehicle. If you are really concerned, ask them if they will replace the clutch disk, pressure plate, and throwout bearing for their cost for the parts.|

Look at the bright side, at least you are covered under the warranty.
For future reference, I always make it a point to test drive on interstates now (since a few cars ago when I had my TJ).

Yeah that is weird for sure, I find 5th the easiest gear to get into where as 6th you have to be careful as to not nudge it over too far right or you can get some grinding as it tries to get reverse.
You also can have the gears pop out (mine is a 2012 also) on really cold days before the Jeep is warmed up. I really make sure I have the gears planted before I let my hand off the stick as it can be disheartening when the gear pops out.

I did test drive it, again the only time I got up into 5th was when I finally got out the city.
I see how stupid that was now, but the amount of traffic surrounding the location of the dealer didn't really let me get there unless I drove a good 30 minutes out of the way. I figured if anything would be wrong it'd be in the lower gears. And again.. 25000 kms seemed pretty self explanatory. I was very wrong and even ignorant in that thought process for sure.
(Downtown Toronto for anyone wondering). And I apologize if this is in the wrong sub forum.

Didn't you test drive the Jeep? How did you not figure that out during the test drive?
I'm not a mechanic and don't pretend to be one, but maybe someone else can chime in on other potential issues.

Purchased used 2012. Grinding into 5th, manual Transmisson damage.
New to the forums, been lurking a while and what sparked my interest in the wranglers.
I just purchased a new (to me) 2012 Wrangler sport with only 25,000kms on it. I bought it from a well known Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler dealership. They said it was a recent trade in and was being used as a company demo car. AThe jeep itself is amazing and everything I wanted in a vehicle! (other than the grind lol)
Now, I bought it Friday and on my home (40 minute drive) I noticed a serious grind every single time I went into 5th gear. I took it straight in on Saturday morning to my local Jeep dealer (not the the dealer I bought it from) because they were closed for the day.
Today they finally told me that they need to either replace or repair the transmission extensively because whoever used it prior had done some decent damage. This is all covered under the Powertrain warranty, so that's no big deal... I'm just worried about the things I can't see.
My question here is... How much potential damage in having ruined the transmission is there to every other aspect of the vehicle? Engine, 4x4, bearings and clutch? I'm seriously considering trying to return it after the past couple days and either buy new or try my hand at a proper dealership.
The wrangler was certified pre owned and had all inspections.. I don't even understand how this is an issue. This dealership has no other complaints.
Any all help is greatly appreciated and I'll clarify any thing that I may have missed.
