jameslee97206 I bought my 2001 wrangler se 4cyl with 50,000 miles for $6500 , keep looking.

edman87k5 Interior looks nice and not too bad on the outside, but it is a 4 cyl with high mileage and $4k is top dollar for it.

whiteyj The love - hate of the search is much like the love - hate of owning one. Buying one of these is not like buying a car. Keep searching you'll find the "perfect" one for you.

I would keep looking for $6500 you can find a nicer jeep out there. The 8k price is smoke price they drop it down to 6500 and you feel you get a good deal... I will guess they got it for well under 3k.
I payed $6500 for my 95 YJ that had 42,000 miles on it. I would keep lookin'.

Scr3wgr4vity I got my '97 (70,000 miles) for 6500. He was originally going for 8000.

But of course, my TJ didnt have a cute "rubicon" on it. That's an expensive sticker.

montgoss thanks I talked them down to 5k flat but I dont know if it has a suspension lift or just new shocks and even though I don't mind the 4 banger the miles are REAL high.. so needless to say I think I'm going to pass

TJe0454 x2 on the I6 4.0

TJe0454 first off, if you buy it, im begging you to take off the rubicon sticker. and if they didnt regear, then it will be sloooooooow. i say go for it if u can get it under 5k. but keep in mind that you can probably find a stock 4cyl with half the mileage for that same asking price. and you can easily do a body lift (if thats what u want). it would cost you ~$200 for the body lift plus shocks.

and no, there is no way that 33's would fit under it stock. and if they did, every bump in the road would cause rubbing.

Just my input
do you think the 33s would stil fit with out the body lift? and does it look like it has a suspension lift i could tell if it did or just new shocks.

also on the milage i wouldnt mind driving it till it breaks and then new engine and some 4.56s or 4.88s

thanks you guys have been helpful

Ted_D pass. 174,000 miles on a 4 banger, Get a 6 banger

Phrankoff that's a very clean Jeep it looks like it was very well maintained.
The biggest thing you need to know is that that vehicle is not a Rubicon. The stickers on the side say it, but those were purchased and placed on there.

That being said. If you say it got to 70 and it felt good..not a scary "death wobble" then you might have a nice Jeep there. However, with so many miles I think you can bring the price down. I'd say try to get it for 5700. 6 even out the door at least.
It may ride nice but that IS a lot of miles.

You're going to want to ditch the body lift. Thats lifting the body from the frame. It looks like 2.5-30 inches. no dice.

Best thing to do is compare it to prices locally and go from there. But that is a nice clean rig. Expect to change all the fluids and get a tune up. If its running great all these years its because it was taken care of. You'll have to do the same to keep it in good running shape.

Just my input

1997 whats it worth?

alright guys heres the deal... Need some advice

I'm in the market for a 97ish tj, modded or stock it just depends on what I find that I like. I'm in college and just want something to toy around with, with trips to the beach and mountains fairly often. No major off roading just camping and getting muddy every once in a while.. more about the look and feel of a jeep then anything else.

1997 JEEP WRANGLER SE/TJ SE

I've driven and looked at several and I really like this one.. has high miles but runs good, and drives welll no pulling handles great even at 70 just wont go faster than that.. they were asking $8,000 for it and they told me they would take $6,500 I was thinking maybe Id pay $4000 just need some advice on what you think its worth? also how much of a lift you think it has body and suspension or just body? tires are maybe 80% tread.

If its worth $6500 I'll pay it... if its not I wont.. some what ever you guys can tell me would be great

thanks alot
