redrubiLJ Yeah, I spent hours researching drive shaft angles, pinion angles, right angles, left angles...I was about angled out...anyway, here's the deal.

Pulled the front driveshaft...drives smooth as a baby's butt...

Checked the driveshaft, and the CV joint is toast. After everything else, I'm glad to have finally narrowed it down.

Add to fix/mod list...(1) CV joint. And since I'm going to be doing that, just going to rebuild the whole shaft.

And being an LJ, with a 4" lift (actually, due to some settling, a little less), and some currie JJ arms, no Tcase drop and no rear CV needed. Drive shaft angle isn't that much at all in the rear. Guess that longer wheelbase has it's advantages!

As soon as I got that figured out...passengers door was stuck closed. Glad this forum is around, or I was about ready to take a sawzall to it after everything else, I was a little annoyed prior to a little research.

So, door fixed, vibration problem solved, and after all that, I think I am ready to admit that I will be perfectly happy NOT working on the Jeep for awhile.

On a side note, any one in the Wilmington, NC area looking for a great shop, with great customer service, send me a PM and I'll let you know who I recommend. Spent the past few days talking to these guys on the phone walking me through some fixes, and I've never spent a dime in their shop...yet. That's what I call good service.

rrich You checked the pinion angles in the rear. It's not clear what you found.

On a non CV shaft, the rear u-joint must have the same angle as the front u-joint.
Even if they are 10 degrees each. They must match each other closely, else you'll get vibrations, even damage.

He has an LJ and usually, with the longer wheelbase, doesn't need a CV shaft with 4" of lift.

kings97tj Make sure the CV joint on the front drive shaft is good. Mine went out and destroyed my tcase. Everyone else told me my vibration was everything from wheels to tcase drop.

fire239 Pull the front shaft and drive it...with all you've done, I'm guessing bad u-joint.....

redrubiLJ ok, so, I pulled the rear driveshaft, drove in 4wd, and for the most part the vibe was gone. I checked the rear angles again, and replaced the drive shaft, and the vibe was back. Then I drove with both shafts in, but this time in 4wd, and the vibe was down to as little as I had with only the front's gotta be the front, right?

Guess I should check the angles of the front again? Maybe just pull it and see if I get no vibes?

Another Vibration problem...

Ok, I know it's been mentioned before, but there are so many threads on it, it's just hard to decipher what is what. So, here goes...

06 LJ Rubicon. 4" lift on 33 MTZs. Auto. Bought it with the lift on it, it was a RC Series II lift, and couldn't stand the ride, so I replaced the shocks with some Skyjacker Nitros, Rock Krawler Bomb Proof trac bar and drop bracket, drop pitman arm, new stabilizer, and replaced the fixed lowers with Currie JJ Adjustables because the bushings were shot. Just had it aligned and tires balanced. Dialed in pinion angles, rear pinion is within 1 degreed of Tcase output shaft, front CV shaft is inline with front pinion.

It had a Tcase drop on it, but had some wicked vibes so I removed the drop, and it got a little bit better. Problem is, I still get a pretty good vibration starting around 45 and smoothing out around 60, but not totally going away.

Tried shifting into neutral when the vibes hit, they persist. Tried turning off overdrive, no luck. Checked all the bolts, everything is torqued to spec. I'm running out of ideas, and getting very frustrated. It's my daily driver, so I can't afford to have it down for more than a night at a time, or a weekend. And it's even more frustrating because the majority of my driving is within the speed range of the vibes.

I need some ideas....
