Vroooom Sorry, dude.

System wont let me upload photos. Keeps telling me "upload failed"

And I dont have anything in my uploads, so it isnt a space issue.

However, there really isnt much to see....they look like headlights.

There are no scantilly clad cheerleaders dangling themselves off my fender flares due to being dazzled by my amazing illuminators.

Other gear-heads dont slow down and give me a thumbs-up sign of approval because they envy my radiance.

They're just headlights.

Kinda boring, huh?

If I can get the photo uploads to work, I'll still do it.

Vroooom So far, I'm very happy
The rubber seal grommet on the new lights took some thinking. But once I figured out ya gotta slip the grommet on the plug first then plug in the bulbs...all went like clock-work.

Fast, easy, cheap, seems like about triple the light performance of the sealed beams.

Ima Happy-Camper.

zksimsnv Hey you got those lights on eBay. How did they turn out. Thinking about the same. Although I'm looking for quality and being able to see far.

Cheap Headlight upgrade

Howdy all.
Yeah, I know there are already countless threads on headlight upgrades.
But I figured I'd throw in my $0.57 worth on the subject (that's 2-cents adjusted for inflation).
After losing another sealed beam to a kamakazi rock, I decided it was time to do something a little different.
I started shopping Headlights. I read the threads, visited other forums, even went to the "expert site" where I learned that "whiter doesnt mean brighter or better" go read it yourself for the explanation....makes a LOT of sense.
Long story short-ish (a change for me)....I dropped $13 on ebay on a set of 7" Round, "projector beam" 60/55w headlights that have H4 5000k bulbs.
I coulda spent more to get HID, or Xenon, or krypton or neutron or whatever the latest fad is. I coulda gone brighter...whiter...bluer...redder...even greener. I coulda went with a "diamond reflector", a chrystal lense, or any of a number of other "ours is better than theirs" marketing ploys.
But I didnt.
I just wanted headlights... Preferrably a little better than the sealed beam originals. I dont need to see 5 miles down the road. Few roads around here offer a 5-mile unobstructed straight-away. and even if I could see that far...it'll take me 5-minutes to get there at jeep speeds (highway). And I dont need to fry the leaves off the trees on the trails if I go wheeling at night....too much light up-close = glare and thats no help.
I chose not to over-accessorize and blingify it like some mexican-special or a phillipino-taxi.
Its a JEEP. Its intended to be basic...reliable....capable...transportation. NOT a rolling auto-zone store.
Mine do have some sort of rediculous "city light" which is a little-bitty light mounted into the reflector that you CAN wire to the turn signal and it makes your headlights "wink" when the bulb flashes.
I didnt connect that crap.
I dont need winking or halo's or angel eyes.
It would be awsome if someone were to make a clear lexan headlight protector, cuz whether its a $9 sealed beam, a $13 ebay special or a $200 customized ultimate widget....one kamakazi rock is all it takes.
Dont get me wrong....HID is awsome. I have it on my airplanes and I LOVE it. But THERE I do need to see for 5 miles (which is about 75 seconds up there). I just didnt see the point (FOR ME) to put them on a jeep. That savings can pay for miles and miles and miles of jeeping.
As always, though, to each their own. Jeeping is ALL about personalizing your baby to match your needs...and your wants.
But....dont feel that you need to break the bank just to keep up wiith the jones's.
Yall have fun out there.
