actually, i never thought of them being longer with the vehicles weight on it...so they can be measured two different ways...but i would probably still say that they are just stiffer than the regular coils (which would mean they are longer with the vehicles weight on them...just like u said)

You're not understanding my point, BigJeep. I would explain it a different way but the only way I can think of is just not something I would put out on the board, though I think you'd get it then.
But let's just say that the size makes no difference when the coils are not in use, it's when they're holding up the jeep that counts, kinda like if you were a slumper. You might be 6'8" full height, but if you never stood tall it wouldn't matter would it.
(I thought you were like 7 foot already)
Not digging on OME stuff guys, I've said from the beginning that it was on my wish list. I was posting up because Bob mentioned my lift. Just stating my personal experience.

Shocks affect ride quality much more that springs do. I wouldn't say it's a definate either way but I can say I do know the difference in stiff shocks compared to soft shocks. I also have first hand experience with Rubi coils and aftermarket coils, Rubi coils with a BB and Rubi coils with OEM shocks. From my personal experience changing my shocks to OME improved MY ride. And by "improve" I mean softened the ride.

You must have a vast amount of experience to make guarantees. Do you ride OMEs? Or is this a second hand opinion?
All I was doing was stating my first hand opinion, but you seem to like to correct me over and over about this whole rubi coil thing. I put in rubi coils, a BB, new shocks. In my experience (which by the way is the only sort of opinion I will offer up), the ride is stiffer. Shall we note that I also put in seat risers, which could cause the ride to feel bouncier because my feet don't touch the floor boards so I'm not near as stable?
Fact is, I'm comparing an X, which is what I own, to an X with rubi coils, this being my personal experience. Fact is, the coils are stiffer which makes the jeep ride stiffer. Fact is, because they are stiffer, they end up sitting higher, so in the end they are longer because they don't compress as much under the weight of the jeep.

Cause my stock 97 was a cadillac compared to my rubi
But, I guess it allowed them to shove 31s under it without rubbing, even with a Warn on the front (if you got that option)

I too am very happy with my BB. I agree that it is a good economical way to get lifted while pursuing more info and seeing what is out there. It is also a way to get out wheeling and see how you really want to drive your rig.
Thanks for the compliment on my girl and your guy looks pretty handsome out in the driveway. Those "glamor" shots in the garage were pretty neat too. If I had a garage I would post a "Scout" pic too.
BTW-your mechanical knowledge and skills seems to be growing. Keep it up.

Yeah, RedRubi gave me his rubi coils. I put them front and back. My original coils were marked with a pink tag 128AB and the rubi's have red tag 129AB. I didn't measure the two sets of coils, but there seems to be some confusion as to if they're slightly taller or just stiffer so there's not as much sag.
In my experience they ride stiffer. Way stiffer. Doesn't bother me, but it does bother my family.
And although I don't have any experience with OME shocks, that's the lift and shock set up on my wish list for when I out grow this particular set up.
Looks great by the way, Bob. I'm still very happy with my BB and it was a great place to start with mods considering I have no mechanical knowledge when it comes to vehicles.

The way it was explained to me was that DC used different spring rates on Wrangler front coils. They made a "stiffer" coil for the Rubicon. Less sag and could support more bumper equipment.
When i got to digging in online I saw that DC moved to putting that part number spring on all the Wrangler models.
I did look on ebay to find the cost of those coils. That is where I also found the part number associated with them. Once i crawled under my ride I found I was good to go.
I'm sure this did not fully answer your question but it is the info I got when started looking to go with a budget boost.
Looking back on "tiny's lift" thread page 5 she was given a pair of Rubicon coils. Maybe she will post up with what her part numbers were and any info she received.

The kit came with a eliminator. Basically it is just a bracket that puts the shock back to its original length. I am using it until I decide on which one I really want on there. Strictly temp.
Any suggestions on what you've seen or would recommend?

Finally got to work on the Jeep...part 2.
Since I had a total of 12 pics I broke this into two parts.
Well back to the project.
I was told sometime back that if I was to go the budget boost route that I should invest in some Rubicon coil springs for the front. I got on the web and looked around. I found the part number of the coils. I found that Jeep used different coils during manufacture. I found that in 2006 many got the firmer coils. All that and crawling under my ride I found that I got lucky. Mine is a "129AB" Rubicon spring. If this is wrong please chime in with info,

My 2" budget as I mentioned comes from Rocky Road Outfitters in Utah. Here is a pic of their spacer.
Here's a pic of my son dropping the axle. I told him a number of times during the day that he was earning future driving privileges.
Here is the spacer installed.

All done and ready to tackle Houston traffic and hope to find some dirt soon.
