Up on a trail

So over the weekend i was down in Kentucky driving my Jeep. Well I was up on a trail following my uncle in his jeep. It was a pretty easy trail just some mud puddles and a few rocks. Anyways we driving along the trail definitly something i would suggest a jeep or atleast a truck for. Well we were halfway through the trail and coming from the other direction had to scoot over so they could pass was a Ford Excort ZX2 I was like WTF but figure maybe the second half of the trail was easier. Turned out the second half of the trail was even harder had to use 4wd and dragged my skids a bit. There was no other roads leading to the trail there was only one way to get there. Me and my uncle had no clue how it could get up there or what they were doing up there. Has any one else pass anything on a trail and couldn't figure out how it could possibly get there? Sorry no pictures I didnt have my camera with me.
