Kwiggibo, also known by his Mayan name AzTJ, is a figure in South American folklore said to inhabit remote forests, mainly in the Pacific southwest region of the United States and the Mexico and South America. Kwiggibo is sometimes described as a large, hairy bipedal humanoid, and many believe that this animal, or its close relatives, may be found around the world under different regional names, such as Bigfoot, Sasquatch the Yeti of Tibet and Nepal and the Yowie of Australia.
Kwiggibo is one of the more famous examples of cryptozoology, a subject that mainstream researchers tend to dismiss as pseudoscience because of unreliable eyewitness accounts and a lack of solid physical evidence. Most experts consider the Kwiggibo legend to be a combination of folklore and hoaxes, but there are a number of authors and researchers who do believe that the stories could be true.
