Bandit19 The job will pay but for the student loans. Just kidding. I'm not sure what you're trying to do but if you're building a practical machine i've been okay so far on the hunting trails with 235 75 15's. If looks are what you're after you're not going to be happy with these. My jeep is being built specifically for hunting and the such. The thing that's been nice so far and not requiring the huge tires has been the turning radius and compact size. I've been able to go around what I guess some want to go over. I suppose it's just preference.

that does help I was thinking 31's myself but i've sen some pics of 4" lift with 31's and it's ok but not the greatest looking but on the bright side i could flex more without worrying about my fender flares. Axle swap isn't an option for now cause of money and such. If I had the money id to a SOA

Bandit19 I'm a newb myself but have been reading a ton of threads here and elsewhere for a month or so. From what I've gathered here is a 31 is about as big as you want to go before you need to start making some major alterations. From what I understand the low end torque with these jeeps is high and the D35's for the rear and D30's for the front will struggle to maintain the strain. I've seen a lot of recommendations for Explorer axles as a replacement. Should be able to find a set of those for a reasonable price at a junk yard if you shop around. Thats just what I've read here on it. Hope that helps.

Lift, tires and gear ratio

2.5L '93yj.... If I want to add 4" of lift what is the biggest tire size I can go without having to re gear my 4.10's? I want to keep 5th gear cause it's my daily driver. I'm a poor college student and can't afford to re gear. I could go with a smaller lift but it doesn't make sense if a smaller lift cost the same. A big shackle lift or body lift isn't an option in there.

maybe some pictures of your 4" lift and tires
