|John412||I was thinking about the Rugged Ridge ORV shocks for my JK to help stiffen up the front? Im thinking about going with the Bilstiens like Daggo said but can get the ORV's cheaper, boy does that sound stupid considering all the money I've spent so far on this rig. Anyone got any experience with them. I got my RR dif covers today 3/8 think plate and they look sweet and are very heavy. Haven't put them on yet so I can not comment on the fit but they look like they can take a hit. PS is anyone else getting teased by the on and off snow showers lately in the Poconos and Catskills area?|

Speaking of the cheap stock air dam, I noticed after installing my new XHD bumper and winch that my gas mileage has decreased by a little over 1 mile a gallon. Was getting 18.4 around town here( small town not much stop and go) to 17.2. No big deal and I assume part of it has to do with increase weight but do you think the skid will help with air flow if I added it?

Come spring when I am finally ready to wheel my jeep for real I will have thd discos installed. I see that my front end has dropped a bit and see a need to get some better shocks. At my store I sell many brands but short of getting a stiff truck shock I was wondering what after market brands there are that wont compromise flex and still provide a stiffer ride, If that makes any sense.
PS I just got home from putting yet more armor on my Jeep and Im starting to feel its becoming more of a tank than a daily driver. The weight is adding up fast like someone else said on here in another thread or something

No you wouldn't. Stiffer springs and gas shocks will help restore your lost height. It might take a leveling kit to fully restore it. "Flex" is achieved by wheel travel. If you want to increase it off road, disconnect your sway bar.

|John412||The rugged ridge "swaybar" skid is pretty hefty and not only does it protect some of your steering parts it also keeps garbage like mud and stuff from getting up in your engine compartment to a certain point, and yes its heavy. I like others im sure am running into the problem of the added weight in the fromt of the Jeep I do not have a winch but with the XHD bumper with standard ends and the skid plate and hoop and lights before you know it you got a extra 100 pounds hanging off the front of your jeep, more with a winch. Stiffer shocks would be good but you will compromise the flex. What are some suggestions I would love to hear them. And an EVAP SKID is going to be worth its weight in gold to anyone that does even the mildest of trails, its wide open under your Jeep and kinda important.|

I went through some mud when it was 2 months old and the air dam was still in place. My engine bay is stained with red clay to this day. It's only purpose is to help with airflow to improve MPG.
My stuff arrived today and I opened the boxes to check it all out. It seemed like everything was there except for the front differential cover. I thought, "No big deal, I'll just install the rear first." That's when I realized the gear oil I ordered wasn't there either! I called 4wheelparts and they said they had to drop ship it from the manufacturer and it should all be here Monday.
I'm a little disappointed, but I still have some work to do. The diff. covers would have taken the most time. Now it's just the oil pan skid and the evap skid. I also order a short antenna which should arrive some time next week.

You have to loosen the swaybar bolts and drop it down enough to slide the mounting bracket between the bar and the frame. It covers the cross member and extends back to protect your steering components. I much rather have something hit that piece of iron that anything else under there. It's part of several pieces that I'm installing. It was just the first to arrive and I couldn't wait to put it on.
The rest should be arriving tomorrow and will be getting installed on Saturday. The other parts will take more time since it will involve changing the differential fluid as well.
When everything is complete I'll crawl under and take some pictures. If I didn't have a game to referee Friday night I'd get started as soon as the brown truck left.

Is the rugged ridge one for the bumper? What I mean is doe it bolt to the bumper and cover where the electronic disco would go?
I was thinking of getting that one to match the xhd but I heard from a few people that it doesn't really protect much. I would be interested to see what you think. I don't want the extra weight if it doesn't protect much. Too much of that already with all the other skids.

Step one complete. Just installed the Rugged Ridge front skid plate. Sometime in the next few days the rest should be arriving. ARB differential covers, Rancho oil pan skid, and a Skid Row evap skid.
The RR front skid would be easy as a two man job. Trying to hold it up and align the bolts alone wasn't much fun. That bad boy is heavy!
