I have a 4.2L 258 ci. that ran fine before i pulled it, i was told by the former owner that he had it rebuilt and put less than 5,000 miles on it, and all i did was run it a few times in my driveway before i pullled it out.

Badge1236 If you have a list of what you want for each part and what condition they are in there are multiple forums specific to jeep that you could try and sell parts on. What model is your project?

debruins also go to and ask what they think to sell it for and post in their classifieds, they are a great site, hmm that sounds weird

if it has a lot of chrome/original trim pieces that is a huge plus because a lot of people will pay good money for emblems and other little things to finish their restoration

Jma20a the frame is in good condition, the tub does need some work. the engine that is going in had had less than 10,000 miles after the ribuild so there should be no problem with that. the frond and rear axles are in good shape, it does need new shocks, and the leaf springs look good. if you go with this other one let me know if you need parts, and if you know anyone who is interested on parts let them know.

debruins hmm on seconf thought i was lookig around at Cj's b/c you got me thinking and i found a nice 5er for 4k alreeady restored i think i will save a lot of $$ by doing this, (wich me luck on convincing the paretns)

anyways probabaly the best bet is put it up on those three places and then if no one bites, (and someone might, if they feel they want to do their own restorationa dn have the time) then part it out on ebay
my guess is you will get better $$ parted out , but will take a lot more time on your part

debruins I would be interested depending on the condition
(and most everyone else will probabaly feel the same way)
hows the body
the frame
what does it need
how far did you get in the process ,just stripped down and with parts or what have you put on...

if i can convince my parents to let me i would definitly buy it; i just have a feeling they would make me sell my '55 which im okay with, i just want to make sure that the project im getting into isnt more of the one i already have, and how much space does it take up (is the body off the frame, everything off of frame?)
and lastly what do you estimate the cost (to rebuild the rest of it), like 10k or more like 5k or less, and the time

any pics w/a better description

and some places to try and sell it would be, craigslist, or ebay

lastly parting it out is probabaly going to be easier because i know i can buy a really sharp '5 for about 7-8K and i know that rebuilding one takes about that much in parts nevermind time and original purchase

Jma20a thats what i was unsure about. i need the garage space. are there any good places you would suggest to part it out other than ebay?

DownandDirty If you have the space and patience, part it out. A vehicle not running isn't worth as much as a whole.

Jma20a it would be an excellent project, the engine and trans have been pulled, i had also bought a 72' with a great running engine to replace the one in the 73', and i took a lot of extra parts that are needed and then some.

4.0l sahara That would be a nice project for somebody.

Odd is he What are you looking to get for it whole?

Send me a PM, I'm only a short ways away down in stamford and wouldn't mind picking some things up, if not it all

Calling quits

about 5 years ago i purchased a 73 cj5, after about 2 years it stated to have problems so i decided to start a rebuild. after about 2 years of on and off work i have decided to call it quits. i don't have the amount of time and money needed to finish my rebuild. i would like to know if i am best off selling it all at once or parting out everything. any ideas? opinions? suggestions?
