|Gate53||Underbody armor. Front diff, oil pan, engine, and a winch. If you plan on strange trails you should look at the km2 tires with kevlar. 31 inch tires and you won't have all the problems with rubbing w/o a lift. Mods should be done to fit the type of wheelin that you enjoy the most. All of the forms have different requirements, rock crawling, mudding, trails, etc...... when you know more about what you like the mods you need will scream at you. When you are low in the offroad skills it's a little nuts to raise the center of gravity and make a vehicle less stable. As you gain skills things like lockers will be desireable as will other mods.|

|s3nt3nc3d||Your axles are gonna get caught riding higher too...the only thing that lifts your axles up higher is raising your tire size...so even if you're running a 29" tire and you move up to 33" tires, you're only lifting your axles up 2".|

a stock jeep is very fun.. especially if youve never tried it out.. ive always wanted a big ol lift on my jeep.. but after years of offroading it stock.. im at about 3.5'' maybe a lil higher including my bl.. with 33s.. and i love it

35s can fit on a 4'' lift.. not recommended.. but itll work for a less serious offroader..
as for your comment you dont think you can go anywhere with your stock jeep.. have you tried? a stock jeep is amazing.. lifting it makes it even better..
for 33s.. go with a 3'' lift.. if you need more clearance.. add a bodylift.. a 4'' will cost a TON more than just the lift price.. you'll need adjustable control arms and a sye/ds

id go with a 33x12.5'' tire on a 15x8 rim with a 3.75 backspacing.. itll look like such.. and btw i dont have a 4'' lift

The 5x4.5" is the bolt pattern. That is the correct pattern for a TJ (97-06) the bolt pattern for a JK (07+) is 5x5.... If the bolt pattern isn't correct for the application then adapters must be used, so make sure you buy the right bolt pattern. Also, the most common wheel width for a Wrangler application is 8" for up to a 12.5" wide tire. That width allows you to air down off road without so much worry loosing a bead. Any narrower will be to narrow for a tire wider than 10.5".....
Edit: As far as engine mods go, skip them. They don't help enough to justify the cost...

|InfernoGirl||That's a 33" tire, but it won't fit a 15" wheel..... Your wheel size and tire sizes have to be compatible.... i.e. 15" wheel for a 33x12.5x15" tire, or 285x75x16 for a 16" wheel...|

You sure you want to put 31's on a Jeep with 4" of lift? Bigger tires will look more proportional. But that means you'll want 15x8" wheels, not 15x7's, and as far as tires, look at some others and other places to purchase... I've heard Pro Comps wear very quickly, but have no experience with them myself. I love my Duratracs.... and I think pricewise you'll find they are comparable, if not less expensive. I can't comment about that lift, as I have no experience with it...
www.jegs.com has the best pricing I've found on soft 8's... and check your local tire dealers for pricing on wheels and tires... It's always nice to keep your $ local when possible...

I'm a newb. Help me out :D
i'm looking into lifting my jeep and putting some new wheels on. i'm pretty new to the whole mechanics aspect of it.. but i really enjoy what i understand so far.. i just want to know what you all think and maybe give me some advice.. tell me what will work with what and what else i need to do or something of that nature.

i think that should be okay for a while. im on a pretty tight budget haha i really wish i just had an insane amount of money to do this. but what do you think of that? is that okay to start off? do i need more? i've heard you can get some pretty bad vibrations and death wobbles and what not from lifting your jeep without getting a whole bunch of new stuff.. would i need like track bars and everything if i want to be secure on the road? and what about gears? should i upgrade them as well? lemme know whatcha think! i'm really excited to do this. i love my jeep
