Heh Heh, You can't beat the portable winchs, I've got twoofem !!
Yes, I'm still using the stock spare tire carrier with my load sharing attachment on the bumper-you can also get tailgate strengthening attachments from Quadratec-
Thats a 5/8"x3" carriage bolt (round head) and it supports the spare, especially on bumps/ruts/gullys-where down force will disable the hinges, works great, you just gotta figure where your tire tread is and drill, adj the height so the spare swings over and JUST CLIMBS over the round head !!easy !!

Are you still using the stock tire carrier though?

Tight fit huh ?
These are OLYMPIC "ROCK" bumpers and run about $270/ea--checkout 4wdparts-Quadratec-JCWhitney-
They're strong with good powder coating and you have a choice of texture finish !!

Condo days. Glad I'm not having to live with that carp anymore. My roommate was pretty compliant and got a lot of grief from people there. Amazing the large number of whiney little people in condos. Me, I went ballistic on the "main" whiner in the complex and nobody said a word to me after that.
Now I was never one to go stupid on the rules, but this guy was a nit picker and I had to break him or continue to listen to his bitching. A couple of inches out or your spot should not be a problem, but whiners like to use the rules to beat you down. Scare the crap outta them and it may be to your advantage.

|daggo66||You could remove the plastic skin and cut off the crush cans. I know a couple of people have done that and it doesn't look half bad. Especially when they painted the bolts for the tow hooks. It might net you a couple of inches.|

Bumper Buying advice required
Hey there, new to the forum, lots of interesting info. Thanks.
I did a search without success, as I (think) I have a bit of a unique issue.
I live in a condo, and have only one parking space. Right now there are 2 motorbikes in the parking spot. I have 155" of space besides the motorbikes, just about enough to fit a 2-door wrangler.
However, knowing strata councils, I know that if the jeep spills out of the spot at all I'll be looking at people complaining, etc.
After market bumpers appear to lack the two bulges that are in front of where the frame rails meet the bumper. I'm thinking replacement bumbers may give a little extra room.
- Are there any recommended low-profile front / rear bumpers (rear is less critical, as the tyre will still stick out the furthest)
- I'm looking for light(er) weight, any recommendations?
- Are there any other options to shave inches off a JK? (don't say cut the frame)
Thanks in advance
