My state does not require a front plate and I don't normally put any kind of plate on the front of my vehicles. After removing the plate the dealer installed, there are two holes in my bumper. Maybe it's not a big deal, but I don't appreciate them drilling permanent holes in my bumper without my permission.

Did this happen to anyone else and is there anything I can do to cover up the holes?

jkaufman_95 My tj didn't have anything bc I didn't buy if from the dealer. But our commander came with lp covers and a tag on the back. And I was told to not take it off because we just waxed it

I talked with the dealer today. They were very apologetic and happily agreed to exchange the bumper with another new Wrangler on their lot.

Seems like there some dealers that are serious about customer service!
Sweet!...

Respectfully disagree. My plastic bumper, although cut into a stubby, has withstood 3 years of abuse. Aside from a few scratches and some discoloration from the clay/mud here. It's in perfect shape.

Adian They do that crap here too. Front and back plate brackets with dealer name and email AND they glue on the name of the dealer on back. Pulled all that bs off. I'm paying them $ for the Jeep then doing free marketing and advertising, hell no. We should be able to charge them a marketing and advertising fee because it's like being a driving billboard with thousands of cars able to see it.
Sorry my rant. Have to tell the punks here not to put it on again when you take it in or it will come back all badged up again

zuba Have them fix it , It's your jeep!!

MikeMTJ When I bought my jeep they stuck a logo on the back. They did it when finishing cleaning. Upon last inspection I told them to pull it right back into the garage and take that sh*t off. My exact words. Hahaha.

That's great news.
I must be one of the few, I would have been HOT. That's something that would bring out the angry Irish woman wielding a sheleighly real quick.

I don't like people taking liberties with any of my stuff, least of all my husband and my vehicle.

Nice. I wouldn't have expected it to be quite that easy!

That would have annoyed me as well, luckily my dealer just had a plastic logo with automotive double-sided adhesive. They put it on the day I picked it up, so it was still easy to just pop off without any residue.

roxbury29 I would not have been happy either.. The day I purchased mine, the dealer sticker on the back came right off!!

GoldenSahara00 Find someone who put an aftermarket on and buy there stock one for like 20 bucks. Id sell you mine but its TJ haha. I understand your frustration, but just be like, I was doing some hardcore offroading and ran into a pitch fork...and a farmer. Battle scars make your jeep unique,

adrenaline That would have pissed me off too.

Dogzilla The hardware store should have some small black plastic plugs that will blend in and just look like part of the bumper.
12-19-2010 12:47 PM
RB-10rubicon I agree i dont advetise for no one i peeled the dealear sticker off crumbled it up and handed to the salesman .for your bumper holes you could always put a little black silicone in there so it is not that noticable
12-19-2010 11:57 AM
Avalon786 My jeep came with the front dealer advertising plates drilled in it (they have all their Jeeps set up that way since you need front plates here)
12-19-2010 11:45 AM
chucky cheese My 2011 doesn't have dimples but has 2 small pimples or tits for the two lower plate holes. stuck my old plate on there w/ sheetmetal screws. didn't like the looks so took it off and the tits closed up. No drilling required. Use small stainless screws with stainless washers and they work fine w/ no drilling. By the way a plate will not fit between the bumper lights w/ a frame on it. Need about 1/8 more space.

Vaultzz I have the same two holes on my XJ's bumper, it really made me mad when I saw them but I realized that they'll make a good aux light mount
12-19-2010 11:32 AM
Mr. Sinister my dealer didn't do his. i bought in delaware, who doesn't require a front plate, but live in maryland, who does. so i ended up having to do this anyway.
i say the same thing, i don't advertise for free.
12-19-2010 11:11 AM
dgherm My 2011 was spared in the front. They did put a dealer plate frame on the rear though. No dealer stickers anywhere either.
12-19-2010 11:04 AM
slimegoat I'll be standing there when they drill the holes for my front plate this time. My '11 Rubicon came in yesterday, and front plates are mandatory in NY.

The same dealership drilled my front plate on my '08 Sahara, and it was crooked. It has bothered me ever since.
12-19-2010 11:02 AM
Pony Hauler If the plate wasn't on there before signing paperwork, they should have to replace the bumper cover, otherwise you might be SOL.
12-19-2010 11:01 AM
jp2611 That really sucks IMO!
12-19-2010 10:59 AM
913 The dealer did this to my '11 as well. I just stuck a plate for the volunteer group I am a part of. If you dont have or want to put a plate on there maybe you could put some silicon in the holes?
12-19-2010 10:55 AM
Dogzilla You are correct there, too.
