|MOPWR2U||My current Jeep is Jeep # 30 for me. The only "bad" one in the bunch was a 1994 Grand Cherokee that would randomly stall in traffic, and Jeep couldn't figure out how to fix it. Otherwise we have been more or less trouble free. We've owned a number of GM vehicles over the years as well, and in general we have far more problems with anything GM than we do with Jeep.|

I'd say you got a bad vehicle out of the gate.
(and yea, there are some die hard Jeep loyalists here who will tar and feather you for using "bad" and "Jeep" in the same sentance, but there are idiots in every community. Ignore the few like that and listen to the people who add to this forum rather than taking away from it and you'll be fine.)

I'm on my third Jeep and only because I tend to drive 'em into the ground.
'90 YJ ~200k miles on it and only had to replace the clutch a few times. I learned stick on this so it was really abused.
'02 Liberty , yeah I know it is not a Wrangler but we had kids and needed something a little more civil. ~180k miles on it no major issues until the head gasket went.
'12 JKU ~36k on it so far. I did have the "sand" in the coolant issue, but had the entire coolant system replaced under warranty. No other issues but I do have the lifetime warranty so not concerned.
-I will add that I still see both my YJ and KJ on the road as I sold them locally. The YJ was purchased by one of the mechanics at my dealership.

I have pretty good luck with jeeps thru the years. I've currently got a 2003 TJ sport which I've had to make repairs but nothing out of the normal of usual wear and tear. I also have a 2013 JKU. I haven't had any problems with it.
Personally I'm always a little wary of getting a model the year after major changes. Maybe you got stuck with junky 2012. I know my sister's family has a 2008 JKX which has over 100k miles and they love it. They are actually looking for a 2nd jeep because they have been won over.
But man it would be frustrating having all those issues that you mentioned.

Ok. So my first JKU, a 2012, burst into flames and burned to the ground in less than 5 minutes. But other than that....My 2nd, a 2013 JKU Sport, performed flawlessly. I put 40,000 miles on it in 1 year with nary a hitch. My current JKU Sahara only has 4,000 miles on it, but performs flawlessly.
Figure you just got a bad one. It happens. I'd go for a '13 or '14.

|daggo66||I currently own 3 jeeps. 08 liberty with 80k, 09 wrangler with 95k, an 14 wrangler with 6k. No issues with any of them. The 09 does tend t collect some water on the floor boards when it rains in the summer with the top down and doors off.|

Multiple Jeep owner
I purchased my first Jeep(CJ7) in 1982. I put almost 250,000 miles on it. The only thing I did other than routine maintenance was drill extra holes in the head and install more bolts to keep the inline 6 from leaking oil under the valve cover.
Since then I have had multiple Cherokees that were purchased used and have never had any appreciable problems with any of them
I bought a JKU sport new in 2011 that I thought I would NEVER get rid of....It had almost 60,000 miles on it when I decided to get the 10 year anniversary Rubicon. I really liked the 2011 but I L O V E the 10A Rubicon.
I learned my lesson from previous Jeeps and purchased the 10A Rubicon with everything on it that I wanted from the "get go" so it would all be under warranty. I plan on getting another lifetime warranty like I had on the 2011. The 10A is my 5th Jeep. (6th if you count one that I purchased twice......[Those of you with teenage kids will understand exactly what I mean])

|nickmimi||I have a 2011 Rubi with over 44000 miles on it, the only "issues" have been a few seals leaking that were replaced. My wife currently owns a 2013 JKU Sahara and has had no problems with 10000 miles on it. She traded in a 2011 JK sahara with no issues for the 10000 miles she put on it. Hope this helps.|

|Xena1||I have had five (5) Wrangers since 9/11. First one had brake, hill holder issues which the dealer took back for another 2012. Bought a second 2012 which had sand in coolant, and water pump problems. Both 2012's would experience head replacements so traded them both in on a 2013 and 2014. So far no issues with 2013, but 2014 had a instrument cluster replaced. Seems they corrected the head issue but still have other issues beyond normal. Only good news is that resale values are high and of course the appeal is high as well.|

Just the fact that you're considering a new Jeep should tell you something. Despite ALL the issues you've had, you still like the JEEP.
Buy another... most likely, lightning will not strike you twice.
FWIW - 2013 JKU Sport w/ manual 26K miles with ZERO defects on mine.

Just like my old Bronco 2 I had in college. I'd didn't get rid of it because I didn't like it. I got rid of it because issues unique to my Bronco. (Basically it was old, tired, and really needed a rebuilt drivetrain which was beyond my resources.)

2013, with 12,000 hard driven miles on it, and not a issue.
But if you are so unhappy with yours, then why buy another one?
Maybe there is something else out there that will make you happier!

I've owned three, well two and a half since one was a project that I sold off in pieces. Currently own the 98 in my sig. No problems.
While it sounds like you got unlucky, you need to remember that we get to hear all the horror stories on WF. Nobody rushes to a Jeep forum to tell the world how reliable and trouble free their Jeep is. No, we only get to hear about the troublesome Jeeps. If you read WF or any other Jeep forum its full of all manner of questions about problems and dealer issues and on and on. It seems like every other Jeep that rolls off the assembly line is a dud. But we don't hear about the 98% of owners with no or very minor issues who are satisfied.
In other words, you got a dud but assuming the next one will be a dud and not buying again is like assuming the next bullet after a misfire will be one too and putting it to you head to prove it. Chances are, it won't be.

|00Sebby||I've had seven Jeeps with roughly 900,000 miles accumulated between them. No major failures on any of them including my '12 JKUR approaching 48,000 miles. Other than maintenance and wear items, I had a heater core and catalytic convertor failure on a new TJ (warranty), a coil pack failure on an XJ at 200K miles, various leaks at high mileage, and that's about it. My '12 had a minor fuel gage issue and a leaking rear axle seal... bothersome, but minor.|

|dealerjoe||Only ~2000mi on my new '14, but I bought one of the first ten 2012 JKUs sent to WV. Ordered it in August 2011, and I had no problems other than an encounter with a deer on I-64(didn't end well for the deer, I drove it on to dads farm to hunt opening day and for another two months before getting repairs made). Other than oil changes never saw the inside of the dealership again. Loved that Jeep but the new one is erasing any hint of sellers remorse.|

|Tank555||I am on my 3rd Jeep, first one was a stock 89' that I did some minor mods to and then took it on the Rubicon, it was flawless, and I used it as a daily driver for several years, then kids came along and I went with a family car. Then my youngest started to drive, sold the wife on a used Jeep, this time it was a 2002 that only had 15,000 miles and was owned by a doctor who never took it off road, bare bones stock, thought it would be a great project for my son and I, well, he took it and lost it in the rain and snapped the rear axle, said he was afraid of it, so I got rid of it. Now, I have a 2014 2DR Rubicon, I only have a little over 3k miles, but I really am lovin it. Only been on a couple of really easy runs, but it work great and is still stock for now... Soon I will be a poor man...|

|snobnk||My 2011 was a bad one,jeep did a buy back and got lucky with my 12...no issues ,now that I say this ill probably need the head replacement(lol)40000 SMILING MILES...I do want to purchase a second sport but am afraid with all the problems out there.Im picking up a Ram instead..I wish they could get their shit together with the wrangler..Im waiting to see if jeep quality improves|

The raw numbers are in your favor, but on occasion a bad one turns up. The list on yours is extensive. I have had to do some work on the kid's 08 JKU. And a water leak on the missus '09. That's about it. I'd flip the one you have and get another. I opted the other way. I got a no option '14 JK to build on. Having fun with it right now. Took about 2 weeks to get it all together.

This is my second Jeep. First was a used XJ with little to no problems. With my 2013 JKU Sport I've had the following issues, nothing too major or worth getting rid of it over in my opinion.
Rattle from clutch at idle in N once warm (having the dealer look at it Friday)
Leaking coolant from radiator cap
Leaking rear diff cover
Rattly soft top
One-touch-down pw feature stopped working

I purchased a 2012 JKU Sport in June of 2012 with the 6-speed. It now has 29,850. Oil changes only done to it. No leaks, no problems. Has AEV 2.5" lift at 33" tires I installed on it.
I then purchased the wife a 2013 Freedom Ed. JKU in March of 2013. This one is an auto and now has 16,500 on it. We both have long commutes. No leaks, no problems.
Neither top has leaked, neither have had the dreaded head issue, radiator/heater problems or anything. Bullet-proof, and we off-road both of them too.
Really sorry to hear about the issues. It seems to be some people have good ones, others have bad ones.

I don’t have the leaky roof or door issue, I was expecting that, but it never leaked. I had the squeaky seat issue, didn’t really care about it, but I told the service guys, when they had the jeep for the head replacement. I just made a joke about it, told them “my front seat squeaks like an old (radio edit) bed”. They fix both seats. It wasn’t even on the paper work as part of the write up.

I have lost count now as to how many I have had but since you have a 2012 I will ref that I have had 2X2012 Rubicons and both had a ton of major problems the 1st had so many engine issues I traded it on another while it was tore apart in the service dept the second also had issues new it was delivered with a miss matched driveline and I could not even put it in 4 wheel drive.
Now I have a 2013 yes mental issue not sure why I go back but this one has not been too bad. Radio, NAV, Bluetooth problems with a leaking passenger door and hard top.
I wont address the years prior to 2012...
I would say its the norm but some people get lucky and have no issue.

|ee4516||i've read about a lot of problems with the 2011-2012 when i was doing some research on jeu's, i ended up with a 2014 jku polar and so far I've had none of the problems that people have had . i just hit the 2000 mile milestone and still going...|
