|4Jeepn||I have run both 3.75" and 4.25" the larger the number the closer in the rim will be. The 4.25 is current as i had to tuck the tire's in a bit more to clear the trailer fenders..lol. Thus I would think 3.75 or there about's would work for you.. But someone with more experience may chime in.|

if i were to go with new rims, what would be an appropriate backspacing?
Likewise, if i choose spacers, what would be the appropriate size?

|4Jeepn||Yes you can buy wheel spacers, from companies like spidertrax(I think that's who sells them) but I have never been a big fan of the spacers as it just seemed like something that could come loose. Best thing to do would be spend some money some inexpensive new rims $35-$45 with the correct backspacing.|

|Homerjay4242||is there anyway to adjust the beackspacing on a stcok rim... or would i just have to buy the aftermarket wheels... i know i heard about wheels spacers... sorry if these questions seem simple, i am just not that familiar with this process...|

|Jerry Bransford||You can mount a 33x12.50 tire on an aftermarket 15x8 wheel without it rubbing on the suspension but not on a factory (Jeep) wheel. The factory wheel has 5.5" of backspacing which would position a tire that wide too closely to the springs and suspension. Aftermarket wheels usually have 4.5" or less backspacing which positions the tire further away from the suspension, enough so that a 33x12.50 won't rub.|

|4Jeepn||yes, you can mount a 12.50 tire on an 8" rim, However depending on the backspacing of the rims the tire may rub. You can adjust the steering stop washer as I recall to adjust this.|

33 x 12.5 tires...
I have seen a few Wranglers out there with what appears to be stock rims and 33 x 12.5 tires. I have the X Rocky Mountain and the stock setup is a 15 x 8 rim with 31 x 9.5 tires. Would it be possible to put 33 x 12.5 tires on these rims. The main reason I ask, well two reasons 1) I like the look of the stock 5 spokes and 2) to save on having to buy new rims.
If this size tire will not fit, then what size would? 10.5? And how would a 33 x 10.5 look?
Thanks for the info.
