Ibuildembig And my comments are directed in the same manner. For over 13 years I have run a 10" wide wheel on jeeps with zero issues...granted we don't beat the ever living crap out of um in the trails, but 90 percent of the people on here don't either. I am not arguing with physics (got A's in college in that subject hehe), I am just offering my experience with tons of jeeps over alot of years

Ibuildembig not familiar with a duratrac so I can't say for sure, but on a MTZ we have went down to 7 in the back and 9 in the front...but more than anything, its your driving style and your terrain

TJe0454 since airing down is now the topic haha. i have cragar 15x10 with GY duratracs 33x12.5 on em. what would you think would be the SAFEST psi to air down to?

Jerry Bransford No doubt 10" wheels are great for "crap roads". I don't really care about roads though since my 15x8 wheels still work fine on my streets and highways. I'm more interested in how much better 15x8 wheels work for offroading since I air down to such low air pressures.

Jerry Bransford Whether you agree or not, it's still true and a simple fact that you can air a tire down to a lower air pressure with less danger of it coming unseated with a 15x8 than a 15x10 wheel. It's simple physics... it takes less air pressure to keep a tire bead pushed out and seated safely against two wheel edges that are only 8" apart than if they are 10" apart.

Ibuildembig I disagree with that, we have been running them for over 13 years and have yet to blow a tire off a bead. You should be able to go wherever you wanna go with 6-9 psi in um depending on the tire....if you cant, your on a trail that is too much for your rig. That's the biggest problem I see when I go out, people on the big boy trails with 33's and bashing the crap out of their jeep trying to prove something. If we drag stuff with 44's you prolly don't wanna follow with your 33's yanno.

NHrubicon I'm surprised with all the answers and comments that no one mentioned the most important reason you go with 15 x 8 instead of 15 x 10.....SIDEWALL flex! If you are airing down to go offroading, especially up here in New England...you want the FLEX of the sidewall at low pressure to allow the tire to mold to the rocks and such...watch some REAL offroading videos and you'll see how it works. With a wider rim, you lose a lot of that flex-so the vehicle itself starts moving around, side to side kind of. With the sidewall flexing, your vehicle stays put-you are in better control and not moving the steering wheel all around. Tried, tested, and true....it really works. So consider WHERE you are driving as the critical choice in what you buy. I'm running Cepek Crushers, 33" x 12.5" x 15" on 15" x 8" black steel spokers under my 2003 Rubicon. 4" lift, skid plates end to end, winch, custom bumpers, plenty of extra weight from stuff and it rarely finds something it can't go over on the trails here.

Ibuildembig It will buldge it out more than a 10 yes. I always put 10's on because of the roads actually. Making it wider lets it sit in the grooves of the blacktop better and not wonder nearly as much.

jeepjones So a 12.50 tire on a 8" rim doesn't bulge the tire tread surface area? I thought it would, changing the contact patch and wear patterns. American Racing still makes wheels in the US.

Gary2 Besides the offroad reasons we have heard . I prefer an 8 because it is easier for the TJ to control the tires on the highway than a 10 with the same BS. The farther out the wheels are the more the road surface effects how much you have do as far as steering correction. It may not be as noticable when everything is new but it won't stay that way as long either. I always try do do my best after lifting a vehicle to get it to drive as close to the way it was before it was lifted and it is just easier to accomplish with the narrower wheel BS being equal plus it is a lot less wear and tear on the steering and suspension .

benny127 Cragar steel wheels are alot heavier but the feeling is so light when knowing it manufactured in the usa. My shoes also made in the usa hahaha.

drl650 I ordered the Bestop Highrock 6.5" flares off of Ebay for 195 shipped. Cant wait to install hopefully tomorrow..
