Lockers will get you further down a trail than anything else.
A winch will get you back.
A credit card with a big limit will get you there the following week.
Armor will reduce the number of times you need to use the card.
Learning how to do trail repairs is always nice.

That's my kind of wheeling! Corner guards, rocker armor, lockers for your front and rear and a TC skid plate are definite must haves. Good size tires for clearance of course. Experiment a bit to see how low of pressure you can run in your tires without loosing a bead. I run bias TSL swampers on 15 wheels and 10-12 PSI is my sweet spot. Lower than that and I've had to reset the bead. You'll also come to appreciate stubby type bumpers.
Then you can go with full cage, chromolly axle shafts, axle swaps, etc. I would at least do an 8.8 swap for your rear. I've seen D35c's break in the rocks and it's not fun to change out. At least with the D30 front you can pull the shaft easily and move on.

rock crawling tips
Hey rock crawlers! I've been offroading lately and have found that rock crawling is much more appealing to me than mudding and other forms of offroading. Any equipment that is helpful or essential while rock crawling? Jeeps are already very capable of crawling, but i want to take it to the next level. wathca got?
