Most aftermarket lift springs, the good ones, are made to with stand added weight of bumpers and armor. A 2.5" Teraflex, AEV, Rock Krawler, Metalcloak, Synergy etc.. will stay at 2.5" with the added weight. AEV's 2.5" kit is a good kit for the money, but their 3.5" kit, I am not a fan of, component wise.

Chickeneye That's why I am leaning more to the AEV kit because all the people that actually have the kit on their jeep love the ride and that's what I want is a good ride. OEM bars are plenty strong for most people.

I'm not crawling as long as the factory arms don't bend going down the highway at 75mph I think they will be ok

brendo i have the bds 3" in mine running 33s. kit included springs, shocks, all hardware and spacers for the rear sway bar. came with discos and correction plates for caster and pinion angles. it was a fairly easy install.

dont forget your adjustable track bars!!! i find the drop brackets to be flimsy and the oem bars are weak

I am in the Lubbock area.

I have the nitto's on my cummins diesel and got almost 60k miles out of the back ones the front ones are still good but starting to weather crack after almost 8 years. My diesel has about 500hp and 1100 ft lbs torque don't think my jeep will every meet that power lol.

ARTS4X4 I had those nito terra grapplers wasnt to happy with them supper noisey and burned that thread really fast i would go with the toyos. From past exp.

Chickeneye LeeIndy I love your gecko that was my first choice but couldn't find the deal I wanted on a JKU so I went with the 14 flame red.

And I agree with you and see your point I want adjustability and prefer it over brackets if I can and I want front and rear swaybar disconnects. I don't want to be replacing parts every trip I take and worrying about is my brand new jeep going to leave me stranded on the highway because my pinion angles are jacked up and trashed my trans

Installed the aev kit this weekend.
the 2.5 ended up with 3.25 in the front and 3 ish in the rear

Thoughts
aev makes nice stuff but some things they do are retarded.
front sway bar brackets....... throw them in the trash. get discos instead.
rear trackbar bracket and non adjustable track bar......... waste of money. it seems they just want to charge more for stuff you dont need. the bracket is nice but if you are bracketing why replace the factory? and if you are sending a new rear track bar why not make it adjustable?

this is a very straight forward swap the coils kind of lift kit. the quality of the components seemed nicely built.

for the money i would go a different route personally.

Like I stated in the beginning I want 3" lift not butchered fenders and half ass lift kit.

Chunks Almost 40K on my AEV 2.5 w/geo brackets and it rides like new.

rand4x4 If your highway and just some off road save your money, Cut your fenders off get some 275 tires and put a cheap 2 plastic lift on it.

kjeeper10 I've said this a few times, somebody actually confirmed it recently. The brackets are a big part of the AEV lift and the way it handles. No brackets ....Now you're right w/ any other coil/shock combo.

2k will get a decent kit, but you can piece something together too.

Like RK 2.5 coils. AEV or Rancho brackets,
Shocks 5100's/Rancho's 9000 or 7000.
Teraflex rear TB axle side bracket, RK, TF or even RC's new front TB. 9/16 bolt kit.

That should get you started and ride really well.

I will look in to EVO but you must have missed I live in west Texas there is no rocks or mountains and no rain so no mud. My JKU will be on the highway mostly little to no real off road with out a 8-10 drive to Colorado or south Texas. So I need one with good highway manners.

The pic shows 4 brackets. 2 go on each side. That's prob what you saw.
The only difference between 2/4 door is the coils.

$2000 is significant and will get you a great setup.

Then those stupid cheap front swaybar brackets

ooooo I thought it did have rear brackets. hmmmmm. I have a 4dr not a 2 dr. I will agree I don't like brackets like the swaybar I am wanting to spend about $2000 for the lift but I want a good ride and longevity. guess its back to looking. again thank you for the help and info

Not bad. A lot of bolts with the brackets. Are you using the front swaybar brackets things ? A set of stock rears works great in place of them. Sure you guys have a set laying around

Chickeneye Ok I think after doing my research I like the AEV kit. I like the MC kit also but just looks like the AEV kit comes with more components. I have heard a lot of good things about both kits and there is no perfect kit. I think for ride comfort and reliability I believe both are good kits selling factor for me is price the aev kit is 1800 and comes with shocks the MC kit is 1600 with shocks but no brackets or control arms for the rear. The AEV kit has brackets for both front and rear. Yes I want all 8 arms but that can be a later upgrade since I am not rock crawling my JK will get maybe 500-800 miles a year put on it its not a tow rig because I have a 500hp 3/4 dodge cummins for that duty. My JK is going to be a travel rig that will drive down a river bank that you could probably take a prius down.

If I go with the above kit what else would you suggest that I need right now. I plan on ordering all 8 MC arms at a much later date.

kjeeper10 Yea RK has made some great changes with their coils and joints. Constantly making changes which is good. Synergy made mention of a new joint. Synergy runs JJ's currently, what they reveal is going to be interesting. There's another manufacturer making some behind the scene changes as well. it's awesome all these company's are still making/testing new stuff for the JK. Sure makes it harder for us to choose though

After reading KJeepers thread that is exactly what I'm doing. After having a bad experience with a highly recommended manufacturers kit, scrapping that and going to another's budget boost I'm going piece by piece to build something that handles how I want. Seems to be working out well.

mastrcruse I totally understand. I'm going through the same decision. There are countless people that will tell you what to get and what not to get. I think if you undertand that to get a good lift you have to spend a high amount of money you will be fine.

I'm going with the RK 3.5" X factor lift. It seemed like a good one that has a compromise between onroad handling and offroad ability. I think a lot of the onroad characterstics seem to come from the shocks you choose and ensuring your angles are correct.

lee indy Mine is a huge franken that just keeps getting differnt parts ran on it for the sake of comparison.

currently i have 5 different brands in my suspension and some home made stuff. shes a suspension brand whore. but she will climb a set of 40s.

here it is on 37s
