rbeitz Thanks all. It's been a lot of fun getting it this far. Wish I had the time to invest in a frame off restoration. Maybe some day.

Yes it is! That was the day we bought the Jeep and we were bringing it home. The previous owner lives in Schuylkill Haven and my mom lives in Pottsville. I can't even remember why we needed to stop at Walmart but we did.

rbeitz Hey I know this thread is a little old but wanted to post an update. My son and I have tackled a few projects with the jeep over the last two years and I thought I would share some pictures.

The first one is of the jeep when we bought it in December 2010. We have replaced the brake lines with stainless lines. Installed the posi-lock cable because the vacuum was not working to engage the front axle, we have added a hard top and full doors and last but not least we have painted the jeep OD green and put bed liner in the tub. All while having fun using it at our hunting camp and in our yard. Next plan is to get it inspected and back on the road.

rbeitz My son and I got started on our first job today. We changed the oil and the filter. One problem that concerns me is the oil pan plug is stripped. It will get snug and then loose just by tighting it up with my fingers I didn't even put a wrench on it. I have it failry snug for now but I am not comfortable with it for the long term. Have to seek out a larger bolt and retap or find some other repair solution. Doing a search of the forum it appears this is a common problem.

Newb from PA

Hello,

Just wanted to take a minute to thank everyone for such a great site. I just purchased a 1991 YJ on 12/23/2010. It is a 4 cyl, 5 spd with 94K miles. My plan is to rebuild this jeep with my 14 yo son over the next few years and then let him drive it as his first vehicle. My first vehicle was a brand new CJ7 in 1980 and I really miss it. Only had it a year before my younger brother totalled it for me.

The YJ needs a bit of work but the price was right at only a $1000. I need to replace the rear brakes and the drivers side floor pan in addition to some rust on the drivers side rocker panel. This forum has already been an excellent resource for us as we start planning our rebuild.

Thanks again.
