We can get you a new rear window- 800-845-3567. You definitely don't need a whole new top.
The tailgate bar install is pretty easy once you remember which way it goes. Spend a few minutes puzzling thru that, and you'll be set. You can look at the install sheets on our web site for details, but you know when you have it right because it just sort of seats itself right into the brackets. It's clear when it's right, even if I can't explain it.
The trunk has a thin rubber strip, and the tailgate should make positive contact with that. This may make the gate harder to shut, but not much. I suspect that you can adjust your trunk a bit to fit further into the Jeep.
Watch to make sure that you're not shoving the trunk forward when you shut the door (that part is easy now that there's no rear window in the way. ).

|Arch Stanton||Well, I had a couple of cool ones and decided to give it another try. For the life of me, I couldn't remember how the rail and weather stripping went on the rear window. I should have left well enough alone because I cracked the plastic window. I forgot that plastic gets brittle and breaks easily. Well, I guess I'm going to have either by a new soft top or a hard top. So much for easy instatrunk install.|

|Arch Stanton||I took the Instatrunk out and still had trouble closing the tailgate. I've never taken the sift top off and this is the first time that I've opened the back window. I still had trouble closing the tailgate. I reversed the weather stripping that goes on the metal rectangular bar that fits on the track. The rubber weather stripping side is now facing inward and the hard plastic side is facing towards the tailgate. It is now much easier to close, but commonsense would tell me that the rubber side should be making contact with the tailgate. Well, it's dark and I'm going to have a beer. Thanks for the help.|

|Jeepchic70||I have the Instatrunk in my '05 and it does seem like I have to slam the tailgate harder to get it to fully close but it's not really a problem.|

Closing Tailgate afte Instatrunk Install?
I don't know if maybe I wasn't closing m tailgate all the way, but now I have to slam it shut so it closes flush with the body. I just installed the Bestop Instatrunk. I removed the weather stripping that was touching the housing for the tailgate lock. The metal bar that the lock makes contact to when you close the tailgate sticks out at an angle. I don't know if that is the way it is supposed to be. When I open the tailgate it makes a pop sound. I lubed the door mechanism with Boshield. Thanks in advance for any tips. By the way, the Instatrunk is not a 30 minute job. It took me two hours; I could have saved time by just cutting a square out of the carpet where it makes contact with the wellnuts.
