I like that bumper...and good-looking jeep!!! If you don't mind my asking, what do you have for a rear-bumper set up?
The wider design seems to make the most sense for the driving I actually do. Of course, I fantasize about moving out to Moab and bouldering all day, so sometimes I'm tempted by the stubby bumpers. But I also dream about being 6'8" and dunking over my brother. I think it's good that I haven't gone out and bought extra long pants...so I'll probably stick with the more practical bumper, too.
My rig doesn't have a winch (and it's not on my near-term list of equipment to get), so I don't need a winch-guard proper but would like something for grill protection.

I have the wider design, it's an Expedition One & I like it but if you ever wanted to trim your guards for more clearance go for a shorter style or stubby. Of course there are a ton of them out there, I saw a Smittybuilt that was a good looking bar but not sure of the quality, here is mine

Those look really cool. I was thinking I should look for some wider bumpers...the PSC ones look like they match the frame rails. Or at least a guard that extends out much wider to protect from trees, brush, etc., even if I lose a little maneuverability.
Of course, I could be all wet. Any thoughts?

Bumpers for Trails / Cross-Country Offroading
I've been driving my stock LJ Rubicon for about 4-1/2 years and now that I know it fairly well want to make a couple of upgrades.
First, I'd like to replace the factory bumpers (front and rear with tire carrier). I've never gotten into rock-crawling or serious bogging...mostly I ride on trails, logging roads, off-road meadows and fields, ford small streams, etc...though this can involve a little crawling.
Many of the bumpers I've seen look like they are designed for more extreme or technical driving than I really do. So I'm looking for bumpers and possible a guard/stinger that would work well for on-road driving as well as the milder kind of off-roading I do. I'm probably more likely to have a fallen trunk clip the front of my car than get hung up on a boulder. Does this make sense? Anyone have any ideas?
Looking through the forums and catalogs I've found some bumpers by Rock Hard, MetalCloak and Currie that look like they might fit the bill. But I don't really know a lot about these.
My jeep is an '05 Rubicon unlimited if that helps at all.
Thanks for any advice and helping a noob out. I really appreciate it!!!
