Fweaky Hell, if they would had sold that thing ^^^I would have bought one when my kids were little. I could just picture myself slinging diaper bags and mud all over the place while my wife cussed me up one side and down the other. It would have been awesome!

The real reason for the square headlights

I hear a lot of talk back and forth about what jeep is best and why round headlights are better ....blah blah blah... so I thought you guys would like an explanation about the lights and how Chrysler ended up with the Jeep brand.
Okay...a little known bit of history. Back in the mid 80's AMC was struggling to survive and Jeep sales were the only thing that had kept them alive up until that point but even Jeep sales were begining to slump. AMC engineers came up with a plan to sell the Jeep brand to Chrysler and save thier jobs in the process. They took a CJ and modified it with square headlights and presented it to the Dodge Boys as a multi-purpose K car and Chrysler bought it. The engineers code named the project YJ for "Why would you do that to a CJ". Chrysler agreed to buy the the rights and bring on the engineers as consultants. It wasn't until 95 that they realized they had been duped. By then it was too late to sue and so they decided to change the headlights back to round ones and hoped that no one caught on.

Here is a spy photo of the original TJ (trick Jeep) from 1986.
