For the t-case output leak I recommend you replace the seal and sleeve bearing at the same time.
The first time I did this repair I only replaced the oil seal, but it still leaked afterwards. The second time around, I took the tail cone housing itself, and the new seal and bearing to a local mom and pop transmission shop. They did the bearing and seal replacement for free, within a matter of minutes. Saved me time and frustration.
Also be aware that if you replace the seal and bearing but still end up with a leak, the slip yoke will need to be replaced. The shaft wears down over time.

Don't get discouraged Mark, take it 1 step at a time.
You have a pretty good Jeep there, and with a little TLC you will have it looking and running good in no time.

Your upper motor oil leak could be the valve cover gasket, they are a common leak spot on the YJ's.

|StanF||On my 95, I've had to replace almost every seal and rubber part, rubber hose, etc. It's expensive and adds up in price, but rubber and plastic parts degrade over time. Do it yourself to save tons of $$$. Search the forums for how tos, and tear into it.|

Your buddy is obviously not very mechanically inclined if he is frightened by a few oil drips.

Stop taking his advice.
The picture above is the transfercase rear output housing. That's an extremely easy leak to fix. All you need to do is pull the rear driveshaft. 4 8mm bolts. Then pull the shaft straight out towards the rear of the jeep. The shaft will slide right out. It has a master spline on it so it will only go back on one way. So don't worry about putting it on wrong. Pull the oil seal out, the red/orange piece of rubber with the metal rim. Use either an oil seal puller, costs about 9$ at most autoparts stores. Or dig it out with screw drivers, being careful not to gouge the housing. And once it's out, put a small amount of RTV on the new seal where it will contact the housing. And tap it back in. I use a small dead blow hammer. I think it's a 16oz hammer. It's made of plastic. Or use a large socket (unlikely the average person has one big enough). Then put your shaft back in. Inspect the end of the shaft (slip yoke) that comes out of the transfercase. Check for grooves. If it has deep ones then the leaks will come back soon. If they aren't really that deep, then you can sand it with emery cloth to help smooth it out a bit. Or get a new one. I got mine for 17$. Oh and put a pail under the seal, when you pull the shaft if will spew a bit of ATF. And once done, add ATF back into the transfercase. That's all for that leak.

|markgrozYJ||I took a pic today of the leak on the transmission-side of my driveshaft (not exactly sure what to call it)...it's not a heavy leak, it seems like it's just the seal... I'm gonna check the amount of fluid I have just in case...as for the oil, I'm changing it very soon so I'll definitely try the UV dye, I think it's a great idea|

|first4x4toy||very good advice about uv dye I have been working on all kinds of cars for 15yrs there is no need to sell a great jeep for minor oil leaks I was told once if a jeep dont leak it dont have oil in it but if you have any ? ur welcome to mess me more then happpy to help|

|Jkilbert||Definitely do t listen to your buddy, listen to the guys here. Wranglers are like Harleys, they don't leak....they just mark their territory. Most leaks you can take care of with simple hand tools. The best way that I've found to pin point fluid leaks is to use a UV dye kit. First degrease your engine, add a bottle of dye to your oil then drive it for a few days. Go out in the evening or in a garage and look with the black light that comes with the kit. Follow the glow back to the source. On old cars, gaskets and seals dry out, crack from heat and leak. Fix them and have fun.|

The oil on top of your motor is probably just your pcv valve. It'l splater's out and build up over time. It's just an emissions vent and honestly not a big deal. Looks bad that's all.
Diffs are no big deal either. Clean them up and post pics back in this thread when you see where the oil is coming from. Also make sure they both still have fluid in them and have not run dry. Do that asap.
The jeepers in this forum will instruct you on how to fix whatever is wrong yourself. The things you described are rookie level work, unless something was overlooked and pics show something different.
Don't take advice from your buddy anymore. Fix it and then take him down down some trails to scare the crap out of him. :-)

|markgrozYJ||I will definitely do that. I feel as though selling a vehicle for these reasons seems like taking the "b**** way out". I was planning on changing the oil within the next week or so, so I will check all fluids soon as well. thank you|

Selling a Jeep because it's leaking oil is a bit of a rash decision. The youngest YJ on the road is almost 20 years old. Parts wear out and old vehicles will leak oil eventually.
First check all the fluid levels for the suspect areas. Check the engine oil, transfer case, and rear differential fluid levels. Degrease all the dirty areas thoroughly, the drive as normal and check daily for signs of leaks. When you have identified the sources of fresh leaks, take some pics of the locations and post them up. I'm sure someone will be able to help you figure out what to do from there.

Worse and worse
I was under my Jeep yesterday and I noticed my differential is lightly leaking and it looks like I need new seals on both ends of my drive shaft (bare with my newb knowledge). Also it seems like my head might be leaking under the hood because there's some fresh grime on the top (driver side) of my engine. Any advice? I think I might degrease all of the grime and hopefully pinpoint the location of the leak. My buddy keeps saying to put it on craigslist as fast as I can, but I can't do that to my Jeep unless its 100% necessary
