But she's not timid like she used to be and she's taken to keeping an eye on my youngest when he's outside. It's funny to watch. She's always with him. I've had lots of dogs and she's got to be the best. She's my first rescue and I'll always go that route now.

Tiny that is great that you stepped up and saved that dog. It would have been easy to turn your head and ignore it. You did good.
Active: Dogs live in the now they forget quickly and learn the same. Give a month or so in a stable home and she should come around.

[QUOTE=tiny terror;98368]She's a pitbull-lab mix. But she was horribly under-weight and had just had a litter of puppies which we never found. She was covered in ticks and bites and was the most timid thing I'd ever seen. QUOTE]
How long did it take for her to come around with the timidness?

|activelydying||I know exactly what you mean about the connection thing. I'm so used to how my other dog acted and Jodi is really different. It's a nice change though.|

She hung around and I didn't want a dog but I couldn't bare watching her eat dead things in the yard so I started feeding her. The humane society took three days to come out and by then she had a name and a home.

Blu you are right. I always remember I took a co-worker on a run one weekend that had never been offroad. We did a hard trail and the jeep worked great. When we got back to work on Monday all he talked about to everyone was that how cool Storm was as he understood every word I said. I thought that was funny.
You get a connection with your dog, Storm and I had a very close connection. Rain is different but we are starting to get a connection that works for us.
If only women worked that way.

|activelydying||I take Amee is a small dog or you have a low fence.|

It's the mark of a truely fine pet owner that the loss of a furry family member leaves a void. I'd spent years refusing to get another dog because the loss of my last dog Alice was horrible. Then someone threw Amee over my fence. She's a great dog.

She's not scary, i'm just really into horror films.

Amityville pig is a scary pig I hope this Jodi is not
She's a pretty good looking dog.

|activelydying||It's completely understandable. I felt the same way.|

Darn, can you tell that Storm left a big vacancy?
I say that with a lot of respect. Please don't think anything else, than that.

|tiny terror||Strap her in. You should have a harness on her regardless in the jeep, but it's a must without the doors. Maybe she won't boot without the doors|
|07-01-2007 06:24 PM|
|activelydying||I was thinking about trying to ride with her without the doors.|
|07-01-2007 06:20 PM|
|tiny terror||Ah, AD named her already and it's a dog thread, so it's not really a hijack, just a tangent.|
|07-01-2007 05:47 PM|
Yes that is part of the Austrailian Shepard Mearl color. That is my buddy and Jeep dog for 15 years. When he passed we spread his ashes on one of the trails we run all the time. I got Rain 4 days after loosing Storm as it was way to quiet in the house.
BTW sorry for the thread hyjack but I had help

|07-01-2007 05:37 PM|
It is all in your state of mind at the time. This is my last dog Storm you just got to talk to them so they know what you want.
BTW try to teach your dog to sit in a 5 point harness!

Great looking Dog he would be great at Frisbee! I sent you a PM with info. do a search for Disc Dogs Clubs in your area I think you will be surprised at what you find. They are very open to new people and will help you train him. Just remember he will be off leash so you need to have some obedience training to control him.
