As stated price is all over the place depending on condition, options, location, etc.
What is your end goal with the jeep? That plays into whether it is a good deal too.

If its in great condition, the NADA classic car value is $7525. Mint show room condition like you would see at a Barrett/Jackson auction, would be $15,840.
If it really only has 40K on it and is in good condition, his price is better than fair. The price fluctuates in different parts of the country, depending on area and demand for the vehicle, But, the price I listed is a nation-wide average.

|Smarog||Depending on several things that would be a good price. Rust, pan condition, solid motor, etc. good luck and welcome to the family|

Value of a 79 cj??
I am newer to the forum looking to buy my first jeep! I'm undecided which jeep exactly so I've been looking all types. I came across a friend of a friend who is selling a 79 cj with around 40k miles on it. I am told it has the levi package and something about the gauges. Not sure what the gauges part is all about... I assume it has more gauges or special gauges on the dash? And the levi package has a better interior? I have not seen the jeep yet as I just found out about it today. I'm told its in good condition with only side exhaust being aftermarket. It has the 304 with an auto trans. He's asking $5,000, I haven't the slightest idea of what they go for in different conditions. If I could get a ballpark that would be great! I'm not looking to drop a ton of money I'd like to stick to 4k or under. Thanks in advanced for the info!
