AzTJ Gabriel shocks are cheap OEM replacements... won't offer anything more than the stock ones.

Bilsteins, depending on model can be very good shocks. If they are mono-tubes, even better.

CorpJeep Just found out that the "Performance" shocks are "Gabriel" brand... are those any good? Does that change the analysis?

Grog In general, hydro shocks, the performance shocks (mopar kit?) offer a softer ride, gas shocks offer a stiffer ride, but you have a better feel for the terrain and the gas shocks (Bilstiens) build up less heat and perform better. Hydro better highway, gas better trail.

This is a very broad generalization.

Bilsteins have a very good reputation as one of the best shocks overall for a JK

Opinions Needed: Bilstein Shocks or "Performance" Shocks...

Guys, I'm going to purchase a 4" lift. One package comes with the Bilstein shocks, the other comes with "Performance Shocks". I wanted the one with Bilsteins, but apparently they are on backorder and won't be available for another 2-3 weeks. If all else is equal, is the Bilstein going to make a big difference over the "Performance Shocks"? I'd rather not have to wait 2-3 weeks, so if there isn't going to be a big difference, I'm willing to go with the "Performance Shocks". Any input would greatly be appreciated!!!
