The 9.5xp is a awsome and very fast winch. It's also a very "proven" winch. I would be concerned with the rope they put on it. If it's not a high quality rope you can run into issues with it melting to the drum of the winch or even "pinching" the drum making it collapse on itself. For the price the VR is a very good deal plus it does carry a warranty where the 9.5xp being used will not.
Warn only warranties to the original owner according to their site. I appreciate you mentioning it, so I thought to look it up. Too bad they won't warranty it for the life of the winch, period... Oh well, dang those things are expensive new....
The used 9.5 is exactly what I'd do, in fact, I did do it. My TJ had that same set up, including the rope. It pulled a stuck H1 out of a bad spot so of course, I was VERY happy with it.
We know the guy selling the used one, and they are similarly priced... I think y'all have helped me decide to go ahead and buy the used one.
