coaxial vs. component speakers.

im looking at replacing the speakers in the sound bar and i was wondering with speakers i should get, coaxial or component speakers? and are kicker speakers good speakers?

Component speakers are definitely going to give you better sound, but you'd need to run a dedicated amp for optimal performance.

so i cant just do a plug and play system, i would have to get an amp?

You can but it defeats the purpose of spending the extra cash on the comps. If you want cheap easy and better sound than stock go coax. If you want to spend more and want better quality go with comp and a small amp. Also either way you go stick with a 2- way speaker. They are cleaner and simpler.

I have components front and rear. Better sound all around. The front set is run off a 4x50 amp and rear is off the deck. I took the 2 rear channels and bridged them to my 8" sub. Components off a deck sound great and they don't distort as bad as coaxial.... as long as the components do not require too much power. I'm going to remove the 4 channel and replace with mono-block dedicated for sub and run all off the deck. I have my deck faded forward a little to balance sound. Strangely the rears are louder on the deck than they were on amp but vocals are not as clear.

Check out Infinity reference 6.5" components on Amazon. I bought mine for $75 a set and they sound great off the deck. MSRP was about $200+. The crossover is fairly large but jams into soundbar fine and doesn't rattle.:thumb:
