Selling my jeep..

I am selling my 2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Black on Black. only 12k miles, with full 7 yr 70k warranty. With rubicon express 3.5 superflex suspension lift, 33" pro comp tires, pro comp classic II wheels , poison spyder rocker knockers, bushwacker fender flares, and mopar tubular bumpers. NADA prices it @ around 21,000 with out all my mods what is a fair price to sell it at with all the upgrades and plus my extended warranty that is transferable to new owner? i was thinking 23,000

Scout 07-31-2007 11:00 PM

Would you rather have this in the "For Sale Section"?

whiteyj 07-31-2007 11:04 PM

I thinks he's looking for someone to talk him out of selling it.

GrnTJ 07-31-2007 11:35 PM

Haha, with a rig like that I would certainly be looking for someone to tell me just to keep it. Why are you wantin to be rid if such a nice soundin Jeep?

cavediverjc 08-01-2007 12:03 AM

I regret to inform you of the value of your Jeep. Unfortunately, your Jeep is only worth around $2500. At best. Being the fair-minded individual that I am, I would be willing to cut you a break and offer you $3000. But only if you deliver it to me in southern California. With a full tank of gas. And some CDs.

IF that is a question, the answer is yes, but ONLY to the 2nd owner, for a $150 transfer fee paid by the new owner.

Oh, and since it looks like I'm local to you, I'll be glad to do the neighborly thing and take that rig off your hands. I'll give you $4K cash!:D

Seriously though, NADA is about as accurate a value that you'll find for "retail" prices (I'm sorta in the vehicle valuation biz). Regarding all your mods, that's a personal financial decision. To some buyers the mods are awesome, to others, a detraction. Sounds like you're at a good starting point. There is a VERY similar rig for sale at the dealership across the hwy from my office in Arlington and it's been sitting there for about 3 months.

Walkeraviator 08-01-2007 09:22 AM

Its all about finding someone who is willing to pay more than book value, who wants those mods and realizes that buying it already modded is cheaper. My last car was a HOnda civic worth about $4000 bucks, but had about $3000 in aftermarket suspension and sound system. I managed to get $5500 out of it because I found a 16 year old kid who wanted a ricer. Trust me... put it out there for 23K.... if you have a little patience you will get that for it.

texasjeep 08-01-2007 12:13 PM

I am selling it cause I just bought a new boat and my jeep cant tow it. I am just wanting some real opinions on price. warranty is transferable to new owner there was no question about that only that price includes that as well. Has anyone had any luck selling on EBAY?

jeeperx2 08-01-2007 12:27 PM

Vehicles x 3 on ebay didnt sell one of them! no luck for me.
like nregas1 said you really have to dicount your mods unless you are patient and find the right buyer. i had a tahoe with lots of mods. really narrowed potential buyers actually traded it for my jeep. if the book says 21 you will sell a little quicker not in a hurry put it up for 23

So i guess the suspension mods haven't voided the warranty? The reason i'm asking is because i was waiting to do any mods because i didn't want to void my warranty. I have the balance of the factory warranty and i bought the extended 100k warranty as well..

i have to admit, i didn't read my warranty thoroughly and i know that's bad. especially considering i just paid $300 to get brake line tubing and a wheel cylinder installed today.. So far i've been back to the dealer 4 times in one year and the warranty hasn't been worth dirt..

BTW: you may be able to hold out for $23k but with the new JK's out (and roughly in the same price range), that's what you'll be competing with...

texasjeep 08-01-2007 01:30 PM

mods dont void warranty. Dealership has to prove that the modification was leaked to the failure of the vehicle. In most cases they cant. I spoke quite a bit with my local 4x4 clubs and my dealership before i did anything. It helps if the dealership uses a particular shop to get mods for vehicles themselves

cavediverjc 08-01-2007 07:13 PM

What I found out about warranties when I traded my car for my Jeep is this....the warranty is transferrable to another individual, but if you trade the vehicle in on another one at a dealership, they won't pay you any extra for your extended warranty. You would have to contact the place where you originally purchased your vehicle and get a warranty refund which is usually pro-rated. Some places may be different, but that's how it is down here in the Republic of Northern Mexico (Southern California).

Try Craiglist, a lot of people have had good results on it. I bought mine on it.

Make sure you list as much as you can and pictures. Inside/outside/under so they know what they are thinking about buying.
