Question about a 2006

I'm looking for my second Jeep. My first was an M52 Korean War model that I restored, drove around but ended up selling. I'm curious about the inline four liter six motor and how well it handles fwy speeds. The newer ones with the 3.8 V6 are pathetic.

I've seen a well cared for 06 with only 17K miles advertised for $17000 and dunno if that's worth looking into. It was a vehicle towed behind an RV for some of it's life.

Advice appreciated.

Mark

the 4.0L is a great engine and is fine at highway speeds. While the 06 has low miles I think paying 17k for it is way too much. If taken care of the 4.0L will go well over 200k miles. I would save a few bucks and look for a lower priced one with a few more miles and not worry about it.

The i6 is great on the fwy much better than the 3.8 but worse on gas. Price seems a bit high though is it a tj or a tj unlimited?

Depending on where you are located 17k actually sounds pretty reasonable. Especially here in florida. But yes the 4.0 is fine at hwy speeds especially stock height.

Paid 16k for my 06 with 10k.I can run 70 all day long and she's done 90 before wouldnt recommend that though.

Yup I've topped at 90 as well didn't stay there long haha.:whistling:
I paid 15k on my 06 a little over a year ago but that was in Louisiana where jeeps are a little cheaper than FL.

Thanks for all the replies. I just thought of another possible issue though. Yes, it has low miles but they towed it behind a Motor home which means that to some extent it has more miles since the odo would not register those miles I expect.

Don't fret about passing it up. You will find others. I paid 18k for my 2005 with 32,000 three years ago. It was fully loaded though. That price was fair for my area.

you're right an electric odo will not register it just sleeps right through all those miles. obviously everything else like tires and suspension components and what not did feel those miles and i would treat this jeep like it had more miles. include that in your offer if you make one.

They had sold it long ago it seems but the ad remains in Auto Trader... I'm thinking I would not want one that had been a toad. Dunno if guys think about that. Just occurred to me since they said it was that. Now I'll always ask.

I just bought an 06 in February, talked them down to 13400, had 36k miles and manual tranny (6 speed). It runs great! The NADA value was just over 18k. 17k sounds fair but I would talk them down.
