Gas Mileage

As I have just purchased a 2002 Wrangler 4WD Automatic with 8"lift, what type of gas mileage can I expect?

That's the funniest joke I've heard in a long time.:rofl::rofl:

Peepers 07-10-2011 10:43 AM

Poor? I see about 14 on a good day... you can probably expect worse than that...

TJWenatchee 07-10-2011 10:48 AM

Was that Miles to the Gallon or Gallons to the mile? X2 on the 14 MPG. Maybe even less

what size tires? what gearing? id expect something like 10mpg with 8" of lift but the tires and such will need to be factored in, i have a 4" lift with 33" tires and 4.10 gearing, i get about 15-18 depending on what im doing, and mine is a 5spd which i drive like a granny

necromancer_tat 07-10-2011 12:01 PM

I've got a factory stock 03 Rubicon with a 6 cyl 5 speed and 4:11 gears and I get 15 in town, and 17.5 on the highway. My 97 TJ with 4cyl 5 speed, 4:88 gears, 7" lift, and 35x12.50's only gets about 10 miles per gallon city, and 12-13 on the highway.

With 35" tires , running 4:56 gears. With 4.0L I was getting 11. 4mpg....I just went go 37'st and the jury's still out.....it's not looking good though..... Definitely less

xloudnproud 07-10-2011 01:37 PM

4.0 33'' tires 5 speed 3.73 gears 10 mpg in process of regearing to 4.56 maybe alittle better after this

Wow that seems low still?

xloudnproud 07-10-2011 01:45 PM

had new motor installed about month back now both motors getting 10-11ish

jacked06tj 07-10-2011 01:48 PM

i have an 06. 4.0 with 6 speed. 7.25" of lift, 35s, stock 3.73's. some exhaust mods. nothing else that really affects mileage. whether i have the ac on or i drive with a heavy foot, baby it, or drive on the highway it is usually all around 9 mpg. depending on where i get my gas it can be worse. when i get gas at wawa, it can go down by as much as 2 mpg, roughly 35 miles less a tank. expect to bleed out of your a** when you have to put fuel in it, im 20, so im constantly driving around with my buddies and such, i go through about 3 tanks of gas a week. i know, poor little jeep right? yea....

Wardj 07-10-2011 01:49 PM

We don't do this for fuel mileage

xloudnproud 07-10-2011 01:57 PM

Jeeps are not made for miles per gallon lol look at their shape looks like a 5 years sketched the design out... you rate a Jeep on fun per gallon

I hope not, I had an f350 w 351 windsor and a C6 auto trans with 8 inches of lift sitting on 38.5x15 swampers that was almost twice as heavy that got 7mpg in the city, but it still got about 12 on the highway.
