??? for you guys running OME coils.

I just ordered the front coils, 2" light load. In a few weeks I'm gonna order the rear set. I just noticed that on Q-tecs site the rear springs are 2.5" med/hvy load. Why the difference? Anyone running these same set of front and rear springs that can assure me the Jeep wont be sitting higher in the rear.

I went on live chat with a guy from Q-tec to ask and he said "Its a standard spring, there will be no difference".

While I would like to believe him, I also would like to hear from some who know personally.

Thanks

OME 2" coils. I got the heavy load front and rear springs because I have Warn bumpers, a hardtop and a winch. The front on mine did droop just a little after putting the winch and grille guard on. But when I through off-road gear and camping equipment in the back it rides level or when I put my hardtop back on.

You really should call Dirk and ask him. I ended up with XJ coils on the front of mine and LJ on the rear.

KBR97 07-14-2011 09:29 PM

Who is this Dirk you speak of?

nick50471 07-14-2011 09:41 PM

Dirk at DPG Offroad. Give him a call he will set you straight with all things OME even if you don't buy from him.

I just sent him a Email. Thanks for the info.

You may want to call him tomorrow. His computer skills are a little low. Lol.

KBR97 07-14-2011 10:15 PM

Alright, lol.

UnlimitedLJ04 07-14-2011 10:17 PM

pick up the phone and call Dirk @ DPG.

KBR97 07-15-2011 01:32 PM

I'm gonna call him once the fronts get here and I'm ready to order the rears. This way I can explain to him the situation and see what he says. Then I will just place the order with him.

Unlimited I know you gave me a link once about bumpstops but I couldn't find it. I'm gonna have to figure out a new BS setup with 35s and 2-2.5" lift. The Jeep is already flat rendered up front and Ill do some rear metal trimming IF I have to.

Sorry about that. I tried to link useful write-ups, including the bumpstop thread, in my signature on this forum like I do on JF, but the forum nazis gave me a warning for it.

Search for the title "correct bumpstop length" on this forum. You should be able to find the thread that way.

For 35s, you're going to be losing uptravel with 2.5" of lift....unless you cut a lot of sheet metal. Flat fenders don't really count, unless you've done a highline fender mod. The rears will need quite a bit of cutting. Figure on at least 2" of front bumpstop extension, maybe 2.5". 2.5-3" rear. You'll likely also need a 1" BL. You'll have to check at full bump & full flex like described in the correct bumpstop length thread.

Yes...the Homebrew Highline and a BL are on the list of things to do.:thumb:

Edit...I'm also going to be retaining the Bilstein shocks that came with the RE 3.5 lift. Im not sure exactly how long they are but I guess I'll need a little extra bump stop just because of that. So a 1-1.5" BL and some measuring are definetly in the future once I get all the parts together in a pile.

KBR97 06-17-2013 07:02 PM

Instead of starting a whole new thread I figured I would just update this one. I finally got around to swapping springs. I took the RE 3.5" springs out and the OME's went in. The bilstein shocks also stayed in. The ride difference is almost unbelievable. It rides so much smoother and softer. Very happy with the results.

Now to make room for the tires. I actually have more room with the 35's than I thought I would. I'm sure that will change once the springs break in a little. Like I said earlier in the thread, a body lift, and highline fenders are in the future. Also next up is getting my HPD30 built and installed.

Heres a couple pics if anyone is interested...

Nice Jeep :) Which springs did you end up going with (coil rates)?

KBR97 06-17-2013 10:59 PM

Thanks, I have light load in the front and back. Being that the jeep is pretty light with frameless top, no back seat, no spare, and the front fenders 50% removed. The heavy load just didn't seem ideal. I put up a bunch a stuff for sale so I can try to fund some metalcloak fenders.

IcarusLSC 06-17-2013 11:26 PM

The MetalCloaks look and work amazing eh?! I'm saving for some too, though I still need to do some other stuff first.

KBR97 06-18-2013 10:21 AM

If anyone is interested I have the RE coils in the for sale section.
