Stony Lonesome/Grayrock

Anyone been to Stony Lonesome or Grayrock Parks?

I'm looking for a place to get into some light offroading for my stock JK.

I'd like to get some feedback about both.

Thanks

I haven't been to them but plan on it here soon. My boss has been to stony lonesome and loves it.
I'm planning a group of Alabama/ tennessee jeepers to go to hale mountain august 27. Have you heard of it?

I've heard of it, but haven't been there. It's near New Market, AL right?

Have you been there?

Go on youtube, put in Hale Mountain OHV. Check out some of the videos, everything from stock jeeps to serious Rock Crawlers can go. Drive around the trail system, pull off to the side next to a wash coming down the mountain and watch the bad a$$ rigs crawl up the rocks. Yes it is just northeast of New Market, about 40 minutes from Huntsville.

I have been and really enjoyed it...that was before I got my own jeep and was just a passenger.

I checked out the youtube videos. Looks like a great place. I'll have to get up there sometime.

Yep, that is the date I was looking at. I think a group from TN is coming down, and I'm hoping some from north Alabama area will join in too..heck, from any area. More the merrier.

I've been to SLOHV in Cullman - they've had a couple of Jamborees there. One for this year was canceled due to the tornadoes in April. It's a great place if you want easy and moderate trails. Danged near impossible to get lost there as all trails feed off the main trail.

I've been to Greyrock, but my rig isn't built enough for most of that park.

I'm in Huntsville, but haven't been to Hale Mtn yet - it's on my To Do List. One of my coworkers lives a lot closer to it than I do and he's been several times.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'll try and work out the 27th.

Hit Stoney Lonesome this past weekend. I highly recommend it. Trails are marked on difficulty level, and you can't get lost as mentioned before. Awesome cafe down the road for eating. Let me know if you guys want to go sometimes, we can get a group and wheel a little. Haven't tried Hale Mountain. Looking to hook up with the group going on August 27th.

Cullman Jeep Jamboree 2012

For anyone thats interested, the 4th Annual Cullman Jeep Jamboree is going to be held on Nov 1-3, 2012. I know for a lot of people that live close, it's no big deal to ride there but for those who are thinking about a Jamboree, this is a good one because you will get to ride ALL of the park, not just the jeep trails. Also the jamboree has full use of the park and will utilize all trails in both directions to give you the most for your money. One other thing that is special for this year is a night ride :appl: put on by Stony Lonesome for the participants after the official Jamboree closes on Saturday night!!!
