I recently bought a 4 cylinder 1997 jeep wrangler se.
On the way home i realized it was very slow at accelerating. 0-60 was almost 2 minutes and i topped out at just under 65 mph. About an hour down the road the front right brake caliper locked up. It is being repaired now but i was wondering if it was only going 65 because the caliper was sticking or that is just the top speed. Or if it was a problem someone else had and they tryed something and it increased the speed or acceleration of the vehicle.

If you're running stock wheels and tiers you should be able to get a little more speed but not much. I'm pretty new to the jeep scene myself and my experience has brought me to the conclusion that 5th is a thought and 60-65 is a luxury brought in part by a good tail wind and a downward slant. Enjoy!

I have owned many 4 cyl Jeeps.... 55 is sometimes hard to get with a head wind. You can't own one and ever be in a hurry.

in my 97 4 banger automatic i was able to hit 75, but it did take a while to get there
