What's your favorite childhood memory?

Cough 'em up, folks. Your fondest childhood memories entered into cyberspace for the whole world to see, read, and judge. Does anyone want to start us off?

cavediverjc 08-09-2007 06:58 PM

Not a single pioneer in the bunch, huh?

Well I'm just worried that you are going to want everyone to get in a circle and hug and drink the red kool aid to. :D I'm not ready to go.

When I was five, we were floating down the duck river and I turned around and snatched one of my moms friends bikini top off. While we both were being video taped. -.- lol, I still hear about it even today.

seriously tho my fav memory is picking blueberries with my grandmother when I was real little. Ones so big they would cover half your palm.

spent lots of time with my great grandmother during the summer:
-b/w TV...maybe 2 channels on a good day
-homemade biscuits
-she let me play with her hankies and gloves (yep, she wore gloves to church)
-had a curtain instead of a closet door....used to wind myself in it like a tootsie-roll, raise my feet and spin
-feeding the chicken (and chasing them when she wasn't look'n)
-sleeping on the back porch & listening to the train whistle
-endless supply of gum, paper/pen to keep me from figiting in church

......unending memories of a lovley lady....wish I had known her as I grew into adulthood, she died when I was 12.

Putting my leg in a pizza dough mixer and accidently hitting the switch. My leg reminds me everday of that moment.

cavediverjc 08-09-2007 07:27 PM

I guess it's my turn.....
My favorite childhood memory would have to be the pool. I spent HOURS at a time playing in the pool. (It's amazing how much energy we have as kids.) I've spent the better part of my life underwater since.

If that's your FAVORITE childhood memory, I'd hate to hear about your WORST!!

Care to speculate how/why the leg got into the mixer?

RIPBiker13 08-09-2007 07:45 PM

He was kneeing the dough!

cavediverjc 08-09-2007 07:47 PM

Sunkist just came out of my nose....and some of it got on my screen. He was kneeing the dough....... :punk:

I think my favorite memories would be me and my Father would go camping a lot when I was little. In the snow we'd play, and during the warmer months we'd hike into the woods, pitch a tent and cook food.

It's really sad thinking about it now though because my Father and I don't talk anymore. I saw him in Cali in April after not seeing him for almost 5yrs and he didn't seem to even care I was there. I call him from time to time, but he never answers my calls.

I have a lot of good memories, so its hard for me to pick. But, summers spent with grandma were the best. Later in my life, taking care of her while she was sick and in/out of the hospital was very sad but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

That's AWESOME!!! Did your parents ever find out you'd been drinking when your leg got caught in the dough mixer?

Days without internet, cell phones and cable TV. Summer nights in Graford, TX, hanging out down by the main road's only street light with bats flying through the cloud of bugs attracted to the light. Coke in a glass bottle, 5 cent bubble gum. Being scared by The Exorcist at the drive in even though it was on another screen and I couldn't even hear it. So many to choose from...

cavediverjc 08-09-2007 09:06 PM

Drive ins were so cool. I saw ET at the drive in, along with many others. We actually have a working drive in about 40 minutes away from my base. I just saw a double feature a couple weeks ago.....Transformers and Room 1408. Only cost $6 for a double feature!! I'm gonna miss that drive in when I leave here in less than a month....... :(

RIPBiker13 08-09-2007 09:06 PM

You must be old... lol j/k

I served for 4 years at the Naval Weapons Station in Goose Creek. You're close to where I was. :D I miss it there, it's so beautiful (if you know where to look)
