Hi-Lift Jack????
My brother is awesome! He is buying me a new Hi-lift Jack. I hope the 60 inch one. Any suggestions on where to mount it? I have a 2003 TJ that has stock bumpers for now.I don not have a roof rack or anything? any pics would be great help.

i would mount it inside behind the rollbars, if it's the shorter one. i had mine mounted outside and it rusted up a little and made it more difficult to use. had to wd-40 it alot to get it to work.

Saw a guy with a TJ that took electrical conduit straps and made a mount on the back of the roll bar. It looked good and was secure.

There are several different places you could mount it. Off the rear bumper, off the front bumper, on top of the hood, in side like Henderson said. Take a look at or some place of that nature and you should see multiple different products you can use.

Personally I toss mine in the garage until it's time to wheel and then I tie it down behind the front seats on the floor. I don't keep it with me all of the time because the floor jack is still safest way to change a tire in my opinion.

good luck mounting if you get the 60". I have found the best spot is to get some hardware form your local shop and mount it just above the tub between the roll bars in the rear. ill dig up some pics.

TJGreg, what is that thing above your DS tailight?

Wow, that is one shiny jack...

As for mounting it, I am opposed to inside the Jeep personally. PIA getting it out, especially if you have a hardtop. A 48" hilift will actually just sit right in the back of your Jeep between the rollbar and the tub, essentially where the picture shows it, but 8inches lower. Of course, if you roll over, you'd rather not have that loose inside. I ended up getting a swingout bumper that holds my tire, jack, etc, but at one time I was going to check around for wheel studs that fit in the jack frame holes. My plan was to weld wheel studs to the stock bumper to hold the jack. It also would give me the option of having a locking wheel nut to thwart unmotivated thieves.
There is also a company that makes a jack mount that fits on your hood hinges. Looks cool, but I just know that is a big dent and loss of paint waiting to happen when you go to remove or replace the jack.

thank ya'll for your help I think for now I plan on mounting it in the front bumper cause you never know when u want to wheelin'. I found a lock for it. I hope to buy new bumpers and a rear tire rack so i will have a place for it.
