Strange p0123

Ok. I've searched and thought I had this figured out, but I failed so, here's the run down.

A couple weeks ago we had a really bad storm and since the jeep spends most of the summer naked everything got soaked inside. The next day when I drove it I had a check engine light and the airbag light on. I scanned it and got the p0123 code for the tps. A couple days later I walked across the street and bought a new tps from advance and put it in.

That fixed everything and the jeep was back to normal. A little rougher at idle than usual but still it was fine. Now a week later we've had another hard rain and BAM! Check engine light is on again with p0123. I know these store bought parts are sketchy. I used to manage an advance while I was in college and defected out many electrical parts. So, I ran up and swapped out the one I had bought. This time however the light will not go away and the jeep won't really drive well.

Any thoughts as to what to check next? Should I just go get a dealer tps?

Thanks in advance for any help

So it's been atleast 3 days of about 100deg temps and not one spec of rain, but I still can't shake this darn code. Should I just go to a dealer and buy an OEM tps? Or may that not even be my problem

Thanks spyjeep. Maybe I'm just a little impatient. I love driving my jeep and it's so nice out right now.

Ok. Did some more searchin on the forum and I found something new to try. The post said there's possibility of false p0123 codes generated by a bad clock spring. I pulled the horn relay and cleared the existing code. Drove around for awhile and no code and the jeep drove perfect again. Looks like I got a bad clock spring.

I guess my new question is why the jeep drove so bad like it really had a bad tps if that wasn't the true issue. It's only what the computer thought
