Tuffy Security Products Security Deck Enclosure

275-01 - Tuffy Security Products Security Deck Enclosure for 2011 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec
Looking to get this for my 2012 JKU

Looking for a review if you installed it yourself; I could have the dealer install it as I am not that mechanically inclined and it mentions something about a T-40 torx tool since I have a hard top.(Dual Top)

I keep my laptop in the trunk along with other gear so I need a lockable area with the soft top.

Let me know what you think about it...thanks

Anyone purchase and install? Feedback?

Sure there is a thread out there of this. Try search.

Worked great for me. Even though the Q-tec instructions tell you it will take about 3 hours (approximately, I don't remember the exact time) it was very easy and quick. Great product as far as I'm concerned and glad that I bought it. :thumb:

Just put one in yesterday in a 2012 Sahara unlimited, took about 1 hr with two people working on it, hardest part was putting the bolts back in for the hard top. ALso put in one of the tuffy underseat drawers.

THIS WHAT I DID

this looks like a really cool product. i am new and don't have my jeep yet. should get here in 2 weeks. is this enclosure still locked secure when the top is off? ie, can someone reach in to the jeep, hit the door unlock button, and then open up the rear gate? or is the gate locked differently? it would be nice to leave recovery gear locked in there all the time. thanks!

cbboard 11-24-2011 01:02 PM

nevermind. i found my answer.

"Power lock switches become disabled after approximately 16 seconds when locking doors with the key fob."

best mod I've done to my jeep. I leave my top off most of the time and very nice to have the secure storage. Took a couple of hours with basic tools to install. I got the rubber "diamond plate" for the top and mounted my high lift jack through the top with button head bolts so my jack is secure as well.

I bought the diamond plate liner, too. Hoping to install mine early next week.

Good idea for the hi-lift. Might have to check something like that out. :thumb:

I didn't want to spend the 70 bucks for the liner so I went to Lowe's and bought a 3x5 rubber mat for $20.00 and cut it to fit

What is the effevt on the sub-woofer with this installed?

the rock99 11-27-2011 07:42 PM

it's is totally covered, so while it still works, you can't (at least I can't) even tell that it is there.

tomthbomb 11-27-2011 08:58 PM

You can't tell the sub-woofer is there or you can't tell the security deck is there?

kbwwolf 11-27-2011 09:03 PM

The security deck encloses the subwoofer. From what I've been able to find out, the Tuffy doesn't interfere with the subwoofer at all, in terms of performance.

Not sure how true that is, but I'm gonna find out very soon. Probably install mine in the next few days, time permitting.

it does not interfere with the sub. Ive seen a dozens of these enclosures installed. I'll be installing one in our 2012 soon as it gets here.

Good deal. Thanks, Chris.

BTW: Finally supposed to get my tires next week. Soon as they come in, I'll be installing them with the FT lift. It's been sitting in my garage for weeks, mocking me!

Can't wait. :thumb:

Can't tell the sub-woofer is there, it still works but it is now surrounded by metal plus what ever you cram underneath the metal plate.

there's enough room for the fridge up there? can you still open the lid with with the hard or soft top on the jeep? i was wondering where my fridge would go if we get one of these for the jeep.

its tight but works great. Its out of harms way if your crossing a deep creek.

nice, let me know if you have any questions.

I have the opposite problem, I have all the parts but no jeep!:hide:

jphs12 11-28-2011 12:49 PM

so for those of you who have installed this, you are still happy with it? how hard is it to remove the top and back? i often drop the backseats to fit my surfboards so i want to make sure i can still fit them without being a huge pain

Its simple - 4 little knob screws and its out. Under a minute to remove it.

XPADREX 11-28-2011 04:44 PM

What is the difference between this one, and the $200 lockable trunk thingy from Tuffy?

kbwwolf 11-28-2011 05:24 PM

Mostly, about 12,000 cubic inches of storage space.

XPADREX 11-28-2011 06:50 PM

That was a good clue, which prompted a trip to Tufft's site. Turns out the expensive rig requires us 2 door ruffians to fold and stow the rear seats. The smaller, less expensive option works with the seats in normal position.

I think I might get one of those... it would be more than enough to secure what I would worry about... like gats for the range, some electronic shopping, whatnot.

kbwwolf 11-28-2011 07:00 PM

I thought there was some issue between 2-door/4-door. Just couldn't remember what it was.

Still, both versions look more than capable of keeping some moron from running off with stuff when you're cruising sans top. I've got one camera lens that costs nearly 9K, and wouldn't hesitate to keep it in the Tuffy while I was away from the Jeep.

Then again, it's either that or leave it on the floorboards. :D

jphs12 11-29-2011 03:34 PM

i was also wondering how this would affect a rubber catch mat in the trunk? i've got the mats from quadratec, which work awesome and i'd hate to lose the protection the trunk mat gives. i realize that the tuffy security deck would provide protection from the outside elements, but the rubber mats protect my car from salt water and muddy things i'd be throwing back there.

jphs12 11-29-2011 03:34 PM

does anyone have detailed pictures of one of these installed?
