Over heatting

I have a 92 Wangler with a 4 cylinder engine. it keeps over heating while i'm off roading. the radiator is old but i dont think that it is the problem. there are no leaks in it. what else could it be and how could i fix that?

My stock radiator was my issue, got one for a newer 6 cylinder and havent had any issues since.

I have a 95 4 cyl and it did the same thing, I changed the radiator to aluminum ( $88 free shipping from radiator classic ) and I removed the clutch fan and installed an electric fan and 180 degree thermostat. I run cool all day long. I think the fan was more of the problem, but for $88 how could I go wrong replacing the radiator while I was there.

yes, im going the electric fan route soon, right after the SYE.

If the radiator is the original or really old, I would suspect that its clogged...

I have an 89 YJ with the 2.5 original radiator and clutch fan, never overheated yet it must be clogged

Could be the radiator the thermostat or the fan. I would start with thermostat its cheapest.
