Jk on 37s

Well after some serious procastination i finally got the 37s on the Jeep.I also recalibrated my speedo for the bigger tires...comes out its 36.25 at 30 psi.Runs and looks great but i have to go back and have it re balanced.Theres a bit of vibration @ 40 to 45 mph but it goes away once you get pass it.

I already had my D30 sleeved and gusseted, increased the bumpstops front and rear to prevent rubbing and i also have 5.13 gears.Im gonna wait till next weekend to go wheeling to check if everything is OK.

Also if anybody out there have 37s or up post way !!! :thumb::thumb:

it'd be interesting to see that next to a stock rubi just for comparison...

It looks good, I am intersted to see how the D30 holds up.I have 35's on mine with the 30 up front & it has been quite ok so far, also have the 513 gears. That extra little bit of tire size sure makes a big difference asthetically *spelling?

Mine is an 08 4dr Rubicon on 37"s. It is on a RE4.5 lift with stock fenders n gears. My next step is to replace the flares with flatties and probably replace the springs with 2" OME to get a lower CG. I also either am going to change the gears or jump to 60 axles in anticipation of someday doing a HEMI swap. How are your highway RPMs with the 5.13 gears? Im torn between that or 5.38s...

Why did you install the MTRs with the more aggressive side inboard? Is there a benefit to that? I think they're supposed to have it on the outboard side, but I'm not sure if it really makes a difference.

I dont get agressive with the pedal when climbing obstacles. In my experience people who break axles are the ones that jump their Jeeps and the ones that stomps on the gas when going over obstacles when the tires are having problem getting traction.

When my tires fail me i hit reverse and pick another line.I know its frown upon to have 37s on D30 and i hope this dont turn out to be a pissing thread. But as i stated wheeling styles makes a big difference, even D44 or D60 can be broken with an agressive wheeler.

How do you like your tires...are they 15s???

chan-THA-man 08-07-2011 07:31 PM

I love them I am actually all stock waiting on the change to get the gears/lockers and and they are 17's Thanks! A

Rogerg 08-07-2011 07:41 PM

Sorry guys but i have no idea how to quote several posters in one post.

jmanc2
You have the Rubi get the 5.38 instead. When i regeared 5.38 were not available for d30s.

oilwell1415
Yup thats how the tire guys installed it..i brought it up and they claim that it wont make a difference.

mgerken1
Thanks!!!

Ok gotcha..I prefer the MTR over the KM2 mainly because the KM2s sidewall is super soft.I have sliced them, pulled twigs out of them and if your into rocks i would prefer the MTRs.We dont have mud in Vegas so i cant comment on that :D

chan-THA-man 08-07-2011 07:58 PM

OK i will be in more mud than anything Im in Alabama

chan-THA-man 08-07-2011 08:01 PM

You are right,I drive fairly carefully myself so I am hoping I don't have any trouble either.

take the pins out at the bottom of the swaybar link to disconnect then swing the link up 180 deg and park the swaybar parallel to the ground using a rope or something similar and your good to go.

Rogerg-
Your jeep looks GREAT! :thumb:
In your last post it looks like you have 35" KM2s. Did you have the 5.13s with that setup, are they 35s and if so do you recall your rpms at 65 mph. I have an 09 JKU AUTO trans with Bushwacker flat fenders, a 3" BDS and 35" KM2s on the way. I drive 80 miles a day freeway and find my mpgs drop like a rock when a go over 2000 rpms:surrender:. Now that I think about it, what is your rpms at 65 mph with those AWESOME 37s? Always planning to go bigger.

I;m not sure if it's just the picture or not, but there appears to be a huge bow in your coil.

Thanks.I think it was around 2300 RPM with 5.13 and 35s and its the same with 37s.I get around 14 mpg (80%highway 20%surface streets).

deepbluewrangler 08-10-2011 12:24 PM

Thank you...

Robbish87 08-10-2011 01:01 PM

Rogerg your jeep looks awesome but I did notice that you have your MTR's mounted backwards. In small lettereing it is written right on the tire this side in and this side out on the other side. Not sure if that would be the source of your vibration or not but it couldn't hurt to get the shop that installed them for you to re do it the correct way. You can see the difference in how mine look compared to yours here http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/...7/DSCF1513.jpg
