Hi, i just bought this 1 owner jeep, few problems to deal w right off the start which i knew about - ball joint, bad a/c, squeeking suspension (likely needs some parts), drivers side door only opens from teh outside.

But thats the boring stuff which my mechanic will fix.

what i would like to do is get a heafty new front bumper with winch, and probably rear to match - if you guys have any pictures of yours / suggestions.

Also looking to get some seat covers (more expensive than i thought)
some rhino lining or just heay duty large mats

would like to sell existing wheels w tires and get a new black setup - looking for suggestions as well.

If i need new shocks or springs i will probably look to lift it, but nothing crazy as i dont want to kill my gas milage or stability.

here are some picture - let me know what you think it needs

so i got the mechanic quote

basically in needs new rear brakes (no big deal) and whole new suspension (not a surprise)

total quote with parts was $900, which i thought was pretty good deal - my problem is i figure now would be the time to lift it. since this is my first jeep not sure i want to lift it.

this is purely a weekend car - will be on highway at times, some moderate off road and towing of small boats etc. i would like stability and reliability but i love the way some of the lifted jeeps with larger tires look. i was thinking i should just do a little 2 incher with some 32 inch tires and leave it at that

any thoughts? lift kits seem to be much more than just replacing the stock components.

Definitely rhino line / herculine/ bedline it. If you have a free weekend its an easy project to do. Take your time doing it. You'll be happy once its finished. While your waiting to apply more coats you can paint or bedline the flares. Makes the Jeep look so much better.

rhino line

you mean rip out teh carpets and spray a bedliner? or buy rhinoliner rubber?
i would think without the carpets its much louder and colder inside - something about carpeting, eventho crappy that seems necessary

jeepgarza 08-09-2011 10:41 AM

carpet or no carpet its still cold or hot inside, but with it bedlined it is way easier to take care of no rust, mold, dampness, etc.. and about the lift i have about a 3 inch suspension lift and can fit 33's its stable, not to big not to small, no rubbing.

my take

so think i am going to leave well enough alone and not lift her. i need to replace the suspension, but i think 31'' tires will be fine for me.

seems like everyone wants me to clean up the flares - will do

seat covers on the way

and bidding on a tube step and front bumper

just need to find a good cheap winch

thanks guys, will update picks when i get the stuff
