Welcome back to school...

My daughter started back to school today, she is a senior. Good luck to her teachers.

I know a lot of teachers these days have their feet to the fire, mostly because parents don't want to control their kids, so disruptive kids do what they want and the teachers get blamed for the kid failing. With society going the way it is going, I feel like teachers are not allowed to teach any more. Last year, my daughter never had homework, and if she has trouble with something and asked her teacher he got on to her and told her to get help from her friends. Of course, I'm sure she was no angel to that teacher or any other. I deal with those problems at home. And I'm sure sometimes it was more of "since you can talk to your friends while I'm teaching, they can help you". I'd probably do the same thing.

So, teachers, do your job and do it well. You can bet this parent will support and help you from home.

Students, listen to your teachers and shut your damn mouth during class! Turn your phone off, face the front, and learn something. Remember, the problems of the world are in your hands, I've handled my share.

Well said, hope she has a good year. Wait till about after new year, thats about the time seniorities starts kicking in.

I was in school when the bleeding heart liberals stopped capital punishment, you could literally watch the respect students showed teachers go down the tube.

I can tell you a wooden paddle found my ass a few times. Word from the wiser, if your going to forge a note from mom, don't use pencil. :D

It didn't make me want to shank the principal or beat up a teacher. I knew I was wrong and I paid for it. Better the paddle than them calling my dad though.

4point 08-20-2007 11:08 AM

Nuns loved the paddles   and then they called the parents and I would get it again when I got home.

Our principal made us make our own paddles in wood shop the first time we got in trouble and it would hang on the wall of the office waiting for you to screw up till you graduated or otherwise left..

But hopefully you'll look back one day, while sitting in your huge office overlooking the harbor, and remember how much all that work and those teachers did for you way back when. Hard work makes us strong.

err uh ya, what you said :D
All I know is when they stopped the beatings the kids went out of control.

debruins 08-21-2007 09:04 AM

i disagree, im in control!

i however dont understand the suspension thing, like the kids who do something bad enough to get suspended are gonna be happy b/c its like a day off for them, i dont get how anyone thought it would be punishment!

Never understood that either. It would be better to have them spend the whole day cleaning out the crappers at the football field all day. Wash jock straps and gym shorts. Good character-building chores.

debruins 08-21-2007 09:16 AM

agreed, that would be more of a punishment, follow the janitor around all day helping him wiht a sign on ur back, "my lifes goal is to be a janitor" that would stop most o fthe kids (btw nothing against janitors if there are any on here)
