Anybody convert a soft top to a hard top?

I have a '94 YJ with a worn out soft top, the winters here in Colorado can be brutal. I have been running a bikini top all summer and winter is just around the corner, I was wondering what is involved in converting to a hard top, but keep the soft upper doors, if possible. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks! Rich

Just buying the hard top and putting it on. Only thing besides that that is involved is wiring up the defrost and wiper.

Isn't running 1/2 doors defeating the purpose of the hard top?

The soft doors are the ones that you zip up the windows on, the half doors i think are with the bikini top.

I don't think it's that simple! Your half door tops, if they are like my 95 come to a point at the top rear. The hardtop is rounded. I think you might have to get different upper doors. Maybe sliders would work. Someone else may enlighten you, I really have not seriously looked into it, but I think I'm correct that your upper doors will be different.

Hard top , doors fit from a CJ 7 ?

My 94 has a soft top. I found a CJ 7 hard top with doors. Will they fit my jeep ?

i beleive so. But you will have trouble with tailgate because they are different from cj to yj

I wonder if there is a major difference between the tj and yj tops. Tj tops just bolt on to the body with 6 bolts and use the clips on the front winshield and thats it. Easy and simple. The window defroster and rear wipers should plug right in.

There is a major difference between the YJ and TJ tops, and I haven't seen anyone retrofit a TJ top on a YJ.

If you get upper sliders for the half doors, you should just be able to bolt the YJ top on. I don't know the difference(s) between the YJ and CJ tops.

Go to either Rally Tops or Bestop and look at their write up on installation. It's all right there including pictures.
