Intermittent noise from front wheels
Pretty new here just bought a 2004 wrangler tj. Every now and then there seems to be a slight squealing or metal rubbing sound that seems be coming from the front of the jeep some where. It starts when the wheels start to roll around 10mph, below that nothing and it keeps going for awhile and then it will just go away after a little while driving(by little while it leaves within a half mile or it lasts a while longer). Some days it does it some days it doesnt. Any help or ideas I'd appreciate.
Couple of things. #1 check the front brakes before you drive it again.
It could be something as simple as rust on the rotors after it sits. Bare metal on the rotors will build up overnight, especially after a rain, or if you live near the coast. The pads will rub the rust off after a few miles of driving.
#2 see if possibly the brakes are low. Most pads have sensors, we call em squealers, that rub the rotor when the pads are getting low. It's there to let you know it's time for brakes.
