Kansas Krawl #whatever is next.

Anybody going to this years Kansas Krawl? I'm thinking about dragging the wife's jeep up that way and having some fun.

distortedtj 08-16-2011 09:34 PM

Don't know...waiting on parts. ....*cough* :D

Same date as always????

MR.CLIFFORD 08-16-2011 09:35 PM

I think it is the 17th of September.

MR.CLIFFORD 08-16-2011 09:38 PM

For what it's worth... I am not affiliated with the Kansas Krawl and I did not build this website. So use it at your own risk.

Did Kansas just get the internet??

Kansas Krawl 9 2011

distortedtj 08-16-2011 09:39 PM

I think I could get my D-shafts made by then. I'm rolling rwd at the moment. :zap:

MR.CLIFFORD 08-16-2011 09:40 PM

Better than NOwd.

distortedtj 08-16-2011 09:42 PM

How is there "trail rating"?

Where do you think I fit in? 33's, and you know the axles.

Unless a magic bunny grants special peoples wishes and I somehow get some 37's and a welder.:whistling:

MR.CLIFFORD 08-16-2011 09:46 PM

Not sure on their trail rating. Last time I went I signed up for a specific trail rating and ended up in a group with tires no bigger than 35s. I was a little out of place. I think the good thing is that you can really do whatever you want or don't want. We could go off and make our own group. But you better get the 37s if you plan to keep up with the JK.

distortedtj 08-16-2011 09:50 PM

Not unless you plan on setting the JK body on your dodge frame. :flipoff:

Come to think of it....that's not a bad idea. :whistling:

MR.CLIFFORD 08-16-2011 09:54 PM

That little bitty wheelbase you run will be your down fall. Been awhile since I had to tug someone out the ditch.

My dodge frame is going to be stuck to the trailer. I guess I could always take the TWF buggy. But it might be cold.

distortedtj 08-16-2011 09:57 PM

That's right you have a gooseneck hitch. hhhmmmmm... Trailer sounds nice.

I mite need it.

MR.CLIFFORD 08-16-2011 10:00 PM

If you break I will tow it home. You can drive the JK. It won't break.

kraziexj 08-17-2011 08:09 AM

I've got it on my calendar to go again. I competed last time but may do trail rides this year.

distortedtj 08-22-2011 08:54 PM

So....I will ready for drive shafts in a couple days.

Who does GOOD work nearby and can they do them quickly?

I've always used Powerdrive... they do good work, and usually have them done in a day depending on what you're having done.

Whole rear cv shaft. And i want a 06 rubicon yoke put on the front axle side. I don't want to run a conversion joint. Spicer joints would ne nice. I'll give them a call and see what my options are.

I just need them done before the crawl.

distortedtj 08-23-2011 12:27 AM

Are they pretty good with the specs you give them for messurements or do they like to do there own?

Good with specs.

kraziexj 08-23-2011 10:53 AM

They made mine to my specs without asking questions and done in a day.

distortedtj 08-23-2011 07:51 PM

Thanks all.

I'm interested in going, kinda of a newb when it comes to driving, but I need to learn some way. Would be fine with limping along watching some others. If your serious about going; I'm in.

32's with LSD rear/8.8 and D30 with a Spartan. I'm thinking of getting my winch before heading that way though.

You'll do fine. There is stuff for all levels of jeeps. :punk:

183Beast 08-23-2011 08:27 PM

So, do you guys plan on doing the trail ride part or actually competing in the event? I'm off that whole weekend already. Ill pre-register here in a bit.

MR.CLIFFORD 08-23-2011 08:30 PM

I am just going trail riding. Most of the time I don't like sitting in a line waiting for everyone else so I will just go off and do my own thing. We could make our own WF group so nobody feels pressured to do anything they don't want to do.

Same...my plan is to just test out the new toys and ride around. Probally watch some of the competitors play in the rock pit.

Andy...is it better to register now or be fine to just do it when we get there?

Sounds like a plan. How many people show up at this thing. I'm all for the WF group.

MR.CLIFFORD 08-23-2011 09:54 PM

I haven't been to a Kansas Krawl in 4 years. I don't know how many people show up.

kraziexj 08-24-2011 07:47 AM

The attendance has been avg lately. It fills a park shelter with a few standing. Not the most but not the least. I don't know actual numbers, just using my senseometer. I've been to 5 or 6 of the last 9 years as both a staff member in the first years and participant lately.

I'd suggest trail riding over comps if you are looking to get seat time.

I just got a wheeling fix at Disney last weekend so I may compete... Who knows

distortedtj 08-24-2011 08:58 PM

Got leave for the friday sat sun.

183Beast 09-01-2011 11:16 PM

Got my winch installed and checking over the jeep before the trip. I should be all prepared. :)
