Trans gear ratio's

Is there a link or location I can find the gear ratio's for 3rd, 4th, and 5th, in a 04 Sport 4.0?

Yes, that calculator and the trans ratio's helped alot. Everybody keeps telling me with 33's, I need to go 4.56. I kept doing the math and figureing that to put me at just over 3000 RPM's to reach 65 MPH. I almost ordered 4.11's, because I want to be at around 2500 or just under at 65. I didn't know that 5th is a overdrive. The tranny shop told me it was 1.0 to 1.0, which threw my figures way off. Thanks guys, 4.56 will be ordered monday with a better feeling now.

You might want to consider 4.88s. With a 33 inch tire it puts you just below the torque peak at 70 mph. Most people report a fuel mileage increase with the 4.88s in addition to the greatly increased driveability.

I don't know if you have 3.73s or 3.08s, but if you have 3.73s, try driving down the highway in 4th. This gives you an overall ratio of 3.73. 4.88s in 5th, would give you an overall ratio of 3.80 which is obviously very close to the 3.73s. This should allow you to decide wheter the 4.88s might work.

Food for thought...........

Of course if you have 3.07s, you're kind of out of luck for a comparison as running in 3rd with 3.07s results in an overall ratio of 4.20.

5-speed is always an overdrive

I guess I couldn't decide if it was 3.07 or 3.08.............

3.07 & 3.08 are so close you wouldn't eve be able to tell the difference.

Yea, I always thought 5 spd meant overdrive. I called the local rebuilder to find out what the ratio of 5th was and he told me 1 to 1. He said only after maket Jeep trans are overdrive. Thats where I went wrong, listening to him. I should have known better, now I do. Thanks for the link.
